Iris' POV
Dance studio
"Alright dancers! So I'm going to get everyone into a water drop," the dance instructor announced, and we all groaned. We had already gotten into a drop shape this year, and she was basically modifying the concept for next year's concert. Everyone just flushed into the drop, before she started dragging people up and down for aesthetic purpose. I was thankfully stuck in the middle.

Once the chaos of the repeat died down, she started the choreographing proper, and it surely made up for the copied concept from last year. Different people were chosen to separate from the drop and it's actually random; not talent based! That definitely made the initial disappointment die down, and I was energised and ready to go for my penultimate performance!* I'm going to give this my 1000%!
RC's POV
Music room
"So basically this is a Choir-Dance item," our conductor explained. "You will only perform the second item with dance though. And you're in for a treat! It's a local song!"

We all screamed  our learning the artist was millennial Jianhao Tan and everyone was fired up! Getting into position, I handed out all the lyric sheets for each of the sections of the choir, before we got ready for our choir conductor to start conducting. It started out pretty messy as the bass and tenors were basically coordinating with one another on the rap. I could only laugh as a soprano, as the conductor tried to correct them, seniors helping juniors coordinate and vice versa. It was a 30 minute show of the boys trying to get it together while the sopranos and altos were smirking by the side, but they eventually managed to master this section. I mean, this chapter is not "Get it together, Basses and Tenors," right?**
Shay's POV
Chinese orchestra room

These were the two songs we were performing! Literal classics on the table! I guess I couldn't complain; all these years, we have been playing to Mandopop so this was good for a change. As always, we had a section by section practice, and they literally got the percussions first. So as usual, I decided to see my friends' social
media accounts and chat with my student council/friend group friends for a bit until it was guzheng's turn.

Having rested enough, I felt well rested by the time it was time for the guzheng section to practice. With all my energy, I read the notes carefully as we attempted to play the first verse of he xin nian while he listened to our notes, ready to give us feedback.

"Who was that girl with the transparent glasses again? Oh oh oh...it's Shay. Shay, you were a little early on the last line, wait ah...I demo," the instructor chattered, getting to the guzheng. He played the notes for me while singing the song and then I was forced to play solo in front of the whole CCA, before we practiced the first verse as a CCA. Honestly, this is better than making many mistakes and then CCA felt more like an individual lesson, because I've literally witnessed it for myself. But I think I'm fine if I learn from them.
*2025 is a SYF year for secondary school. SYF is basically a performing arts competition for Singapore schools.
