Crystal's POV
Shuttle bus
The bus jolted, prompting me out of my reverie. Was that the Summer Palace I was seeing? Ethan started sending photos to the SEC chat and I started taking some back. It was basically a photo conversation, but it didn't last long because we soon had to get off, park our luggage in the check into the hotel and head over to our next destination...a local restaurant near The Great Wall of China.
Chinese restaurant
"2 bowls of banmian," the waiter told us and we thanked him. Ethan and I took our bowls of banmian. Snapping photos, we tucked in heartily and slurped the noodles, shamelessly making remarks about the broth, how the noodles are "slurp-worthy" and how chewy the noodles were. Mdm Yeo chuckled.
"I trust you two aren't dating," she remarked in Chinese. We froze and burst out laughing. He was just a true good guy friend; nothing else.
The Great Wall of China
Mrs Nur's POV
How long could this place go? That was what I wondered as I walked through the walls of you guessed it—The Great Wall of China. Mdm Yeo rambled on and on about the significance of the Great Wall of China and began to talk about stories during her school days, when her parents would take her there during holidays like China's National Day. I couldn't help but admire the surroundings and let the wind make my hair dance.
Concert hall
Ethan's POV
The performers revealed themselves from the wings one by one with heavy makeup and long flowy dresses. And my jaw dropped that instant. Everyone was flawless, both with looks and with performance. The opera performers hit high notes that I couldn't even hit, and I was taken away into a new universe of its own. My phone was fixed on its original position as the performance progressed, every part of me disconnected from reality and in the zone of the performance.
Xingqiu's POV
Another Chinese restaurant
Picking up the dumplings from the plate, Ethan gently flicked a piece of Peking duck onto my plate. Like the older brother figure he has always been! I smirked and used my chopsticks to place another jiaozi on the plate, gently flicking it onto his plate. Ethan returned me a wide smile and we made a pact to keep on passing on food to each other until we finished all the sharing dishes. No, I don't count rice.
Leah's POV
Hotel room
On the table of the hotel, Crystal and I shared a chair as we shared the strawberry and vanilla pocky among ourselves. Taking the phone, I got Ethan's number from Crystal and we decided to do a girls' prank: a prank call to Ethan's room. He picked up, and we guffawed away during one of the few times we didn't even try to be mature.
-
Leah: Hello?
Ethan: Wjo are you? I literally thought it was my friend Crystal.
Leah: I'm her roommate! We're eating pocky now. You want some?
Ethan: Didn't you buy like 4 packs of those? Aren't you worried about wasting all the money you had for the trip?
Leah: I bought 2 original. I'll throw one of it to your room, and I'll call you through Crystal's number after that.
Ethan: Alright. But be prepared to get some rice crackers back!
Leah: Anything to try something I'll never try again!
