Chapter 79: What do you mean discipline ain't enough?

Chloe's POV
"Chloe," my A Maths tuition teacher announced and I walked to the front, holding my breath. We had just finished our termly reviews and now our understanding on the various topics has been checked up on. "You're making good progress. Keep it up!"

I looked at the paper, and in red read 59%. I cheered. I finally passed A Math! My parents would finally just shut up and change to talking about how much progress I've been making. Being disciplined was really a life saver. I've been doing much better in all the big tuition tests my tuition centres have given me. I hope my parents would be thrilled to know I am finally passing A Maths!
Mrs Ong's POV
Chloe's home
Mrs Ong: Chloe, your tuition teacher sent us your progress report. You're progressing really well and it looks like you have shown a stark improvement in your learning attitude. Your energy and passion towards learning is infectious. I couldn't be prouder.

Chloe: haha, thanks!

Mr Ong: Haha your head! You know Crystal would do a thousand times better than you. And the teacher is praising you thinking you're some CCA leader but you're not! I would only praise you if you were a Crystal!

Mrs Ong: Dear, she was failing and failing before this. I was expecting a borderline pass before this, but she is very close to a B.

Mr Ong: No, she would have done better if she wasn't editing all the time! And drawing too! At least Crystal has some self control to cut down her social media activities now that she's doing everything she wanted.

Mrs Ong: So does Chloe! She doesn't post daily anymore.

Mr Ong: All Chloe does at CCAs is create videos! Crystal learns valuable skills and at drama she contributes to the centennial celebrations.

Mrs Ong: Chloe is capable of that too. She just has to make sure she watches the musical to honour her school's anniversary and not just because the school asked her to. turns to Chloe Chlo, I know you're a sweet person that'll support her friends wholeheartedly. Don't listen to him, your dad can't take that you changed but I do. Keep at it.
Crystal's POV
"KEIRA!" I screamed through the Zoom meeting. "Why did you pull that fucking move on our opponents? We lost thanks to you."

"Not my fault!!" Keira screamed, her pitch even higher than mine. "See, this is what happens when you main a character with shooting powers and your CCA involves shooting in some shot."

"It's not that deep it's table tennis only!"

"Oh yes it is!! Get Ethan to teach you!"

Keira is an avid gamer and she introduced me to "Mobile Legends Bang Bang" during NDP. We still play it together sometimes (and scream like what you read just now), and that was one of those nights, when I heard the door knock. "Oh, that's Chloe," I replied, and muted myself.
Chloe's room
Chloe: Dad said you are capable of getting an A for this A Math test because you have so many extracurriculars. You can have this paper, try it out during your free period. And don't do it in Ethan's face.

Crystal: So you want to see if I can get an A for this test because dad compared you to me and used me as an example now?

Chloe: Yes, so I want to prove his point.

Crystal: Come on, don't listen to him. He's got his own principles to life and what is a good grade. I think 59% for someone that has been failing is an A in my eyes. You've improved so much.

Chloe: But I still want you to try this paper.

Crystal: If you insist...but I'll just attempt one question.
Crystal uses extra foolscap paper and covers Chloe's original answer, scribbling the answers and punching the calculator
Crystal: See? Dad is stupid. For a 4 mark question I only guaranteed 2 marks. I think if you just keep doing what do you, you'll get to my level in no time.

Chloe: Thanks. And how are you coping so well?
