"What's one thing that can instantly make your day worse?" He asked.

"That's easy," She laughed, "The gods."

Just Do It

ARYA WAS ALREADY DREADING having to deal with a fighting Nike. Sure, Arya had her own competitive streak that, combined with her skills, caused her to win Capture the Flag more than she lost. Percy was right when he asked who didn't like winning?

Except, more often than not Arya avoided the Nike kids. Everything was a game to them, they always sought out how there can be winners and losers in every scenario. It wasn't fun. Arya imagined that the goddess that bred all of that would be insufferable on her own. Not to mention two of her fighting for control.

Her mood didn't improve as they spent hours walking through Olympia trying and coming up short to find a goddess.

Although, it wasn't made worse either.

There was something almost enjoyable about walking through the city with Ace who looked at his map as if they were tourists and not demigods on a quest. Every other building seemed to have some kind of history behind it that Ace wanted to share with her.

Sticking by his side, made the time almost tolerable. Although Arya liked his company so much she figured Council Meetings would be tolerable if Ace was allowed to whisper his thoughts into her ear while the gods droned on.

It made her wonder what it would be like to go somewhere without having to hunt down some entity or piece of information within a time limit. Would he enjoy it? Would she?

At a certain point Percy and Arya separated off into a museum while Ace and Hazel went to check out some ruins. The siblings weren't successful.

Arya kept an eye on Percy out of the corner of his eye as he skipped tones across a river as they waited for the others. He looked more like her than ever. His time away from Camp Half-Blood and down in Tartarus had hardened him in a way Arya never wanted for him.

He was untrusting and angry. Not that he didn't have a right to be. Arya had just hoped for a different outcome for him. It was stupid of her to think he would end up any different as a child of the big three.

"What are you thinking?" Percy asked as they both watched the rock go.

"How much I didn't want you to turn out like me."
