"What does your nectar and ambrosia taste like?" She asked.

"Warm apple crisp and cranberry sprite." He laughed.

ACE KNEW, deep down in his heart, that he should have taken over as the 'responsible adult chaperone' that was supposed to be on the ship. He was the oldest by a year and knew everyone well enough by now to know he was one of the few that actually thought through his actions on a regular basis.

No one on the ship was a little kid though, and as long as they weren't doing anything out of this world stupid, then he did trust them to make their own decisions. How could nine of them be trusted to save their world but not be trusted to be in each other's rooms?

All this to say, he didn't mind when Piper came into the med bay and insisted that she spend the night with Jason, or when he saw Percy close Annabeth's door for the night as he made his way to his own room. If anything he was jealous that they could spend the night with each other.

He missed waking up to Arya deep asleep in the morning because it was one of the only times she looked at peace. He missed reading out loud to her every night until she dozed off. He worried that she was having nightmares and waking up alone.

Over the last week he had taken a few chances to check on the golden vials Apollo had given him. After eight days since they stopped spending nights together, only one was missing.

The morning after the Ithaca incident Ace changed his bandages, ignoring the shiver that went through his spine as he remembered Arya's fingers on his skin, her scent wafting right into his nose, her intense gaze on his torso as she cared for him.

Once his bandages were changed he found Piper in a med bay with an awake Jason. The three of them talked as Ace worked on Jason's wound again, using the one spell that had been proven to work, and replacing the unicorn powder.

It wasn't until Piper left the room that Jason grabbed Ace's arm.

"Tell me the truth. How bad is it?"

Ace didn't exactly know how to answer that. When he had unwrapped the bandaged wound had clotted over but was smoking black.

"It's not good." Ace told him honestly, "The best I can do is stop whatever this is from getting worse. It doesn't seem like it's too keen to heal."
