The Tell All

"THERE WAS A BOY..." Arya said, her voice thick with far more emotion than Ace could begin to decipher, "There was a boy. His name was Luke. I was in love with him. And then he died."

Ace knew this. That was about as much as he knew too.

They had been through a lot of emotion in the last twenty-four hours and even though things were calming down, welcoming some friends back and saying goodbye to others while still knowing that whatever could be next could be the end, would put someone in an emotionally vulnerable spot.

He didn't know what had happened then brought her out to him, already visibly upset, spewing something that she had refused to talk about.

Why had she decided to come tell him this? He didn't need to know, not when it was likely the worst thing she had ever been through in her life.

    "You don't have to-"

"I know." Arya said, "You've never once asked. I appreciate that. I want you to know this... I need you to know this."

Ace really looked at her. The sea green eyes that were filled with misery, and her frown wasn't one of anger like usual. It was just sorrow. Her hands were playing with the strings of her gauntlets without much care, just giving her something to do so she didn't feel so exposed.

"Do you want to do it here?" Ace asked.

    She nodded.

The ship cutting through air made it so that it wasn't silent. Arya didn't like silences. Also, everyone was downstairs, and while the walls were thick you could never be sure who was listening.

He pushed himself off the railing, debating stepping closer. He decided against it, to give her the space to come to him if that's what she wanted.

"Okay." Ace gave it a few seconds to see if she had a speech, or if she was waiting for questions, "How did he die?"

Immediately her confidence was lost and she looked away. The wind pulled her hair into her face.

"Arya," He said gently, waiting until she looked back at him, "You lost him in a war. I can't judge that. I won't. I promise."

    It was the truth.

He was already guilty that he had clearly taken things too far to the point where she was forcing herself to share a part of herself that she wasn't ready for. Piper literally sat him down and warned him about this. He wanted to take it all back so that she wouldn't be in this situation.
