Ten Days to War — Preparations at the Edge of Fate
Ten days remained before the great war would erupt. There was no longer time to seek new allies. And so, I decided to return to my homeland—Arandelle.
The moment Leon and I set foot inside the castle, my subordinates rushed forward with joyous cheers. Their voices filled the grand hall, as if they were welcoming back a queen from the battlefield. Yet, among all those faces, one was missing—Ares.
I narrowed my eyes. “Azazil, where is Ares?”
Azazil lowered his head. “Forgive me, Avrora-sama. Ares has been gone for a week. He said he would search for the gods who were once punished and cast away into other universes. He intends to free them… and make them our allies.”
I froze for a moment. “…I see.” The words left my lips lightly, but my heart felt heavy. Ares was stubborn, yet ambitious. If he failed, he could vanish forever in the void between dimensions. “I can’t help but worry. Is he truly alright?”
The days passed with tension building in the air. Five days later, the castle gates trembled, and Ares finally returned. But he was not alone. Behind him walked five figures radiating a strange aura.
They were… neither demons nor humans. Their presence felt both sacred and ominous. Black wings folded behind their backs shimmered faintly. I furrowed my brows.
“Avrora-sama!” Ares called out, his face bright with triumph. “I have returned! And I bring with me the Arcangels—former gods who, like me, were punished. From this day on, they will be our allies.”
I gazed at them one by one. Each of them bowed deeply in respect.
“Introduce yourselves,” I said calmly.
A short-haired blonde girl stepped forward, her smile sweet but her eyes firm with resolve. “My name is Angelia. From today onward, I pledge myself to you, Avrora-sama.”
Then the others followed: the graceful long-haired silver beauty, Silvi. A small, energetic twin-tailed redhead, Lilia. A sharp-eyed man with flowing black hair, Zuko. And a sturdy short-haired man with steel-blue locks, Michael.
I allowed myself a faint smile. “Thank you. From this day forward, I’ll be relying on all of you.”
They bowed again, their vow lingering in the air like an unbroken oath.
Time slipped by quickly. Three days before the war, a foreign aura pierced the throne room. A tall figure appeared, lips curled into a mocking grin—Valtherion.
“Yo, Avrora! How are you? Ready to die yet?”
“Tch! Enough talk. State your business.”
Valtherion laughed boisterously. “Hahaha! Fine, fine. I came to deliver a message. The war will be held three days from now, in an uninhabited world called Zero. I trust you won’t run away.”
I rose from my throne, glaring at him. “I understand. I won’t run. In fact, I’ll be the one to kill you.”
His grin widened. “Oh? You sound so confident. But believe me… I’ll shatter that confidence on the battlefield. See you soon, Avrora.”
With that, his body vanished. I clenched my fists. “Tch! That man is insufferable.”
One day before the war, I convened a grand council of Demon Lords. With my magic, I opened a portal—a massive gate to a meeting hall in another dimension.
“All of you, enter!” I commanded my subordinates and soldiers.
Not only them—I sent doors to other worlds as well, invitations to the Demon Lords of other universes. Even Alden, Liza, and Zen were summoned.
