Leon vs. Luther — A Suspicious Night
The arena’s atmosphere today felt different. The air was filled with the roaring cheers of the crowd, who had already packed the stands since morning. Flags fluttered, and the scent of dust and metal blended together. All eyes were fixed on one thing—the match between Leon and Luther.
Leon was already standing at his side of the arena, holding his sword with a calm stance, yet his eyes were as sharp as a wolf ready to pounce. I stood outside the field, waving my hand and shouting at the top of my lungs.
> “Onii-sama! Don’t you dare lose!”
Leon turned his head and gave me a faint smile.
“You don’t need to worry about that, Avrora. I will win.”There was so much certainty in his voice that it eased my heart just a little.
Soon, both Leon and Luther strode into the arena. Their movements were steady, each step making the ground tremble. They gave each other a slight nod—an unspoken ritual before an official duel began.
From his seat, King Drake raised his hand. Blue light swirled in the air, forming a thick barrier that separated the arena from the spectators.
“For everyone’s safety, the barrier has been set,” his voice echoed. “Ready… begin!”
Both men immediately took their stances.
> “Swoshhh!”
The sound of air splitting rang out as they lunged at the same time. Their swords clashed, scattering silver sparks. The shock of the impact could be felt even from where I stood.
Leon wielded only an ordinary sword, while Luther—though not yet fighting seriously—was already testing his strength.
“Not bad, Leon,” Luther said with a faint smirk.
“You’re not bad yourself,” Leon replied, “but this is just the warm-up.”
They clashed again. This time, Luther raised his hand—blood seeped out from his skin. Strangely, the blood hardened, forming a dense root-like network that crawled rapidly along the ground toward Leon.
Leon leapt back, dodging the sharp branches.
“Tch, troublesome.”From beneath his cloak, he drew a gleaming dagger, arcs of lightning crackling along its edge.
> “Zzt!”
One slash severed the “blood roots,” but their numbers kept multiplying.
Luther grinned. A red mist began seeping from his body, wrapping around the arena.
“Tch… and now this?” Leon narrowed his eyes. Tiny cuts suddenly appeared along his arm.
I instantly realized the cause—the mist was filled with blood particles as sharp as shattered glass.
> “Onii-sama!” I called through telepathy, my voice urgent. “That mist is damaging your body bit by bit! Dispel it now—the particles are razor-sharp!”
Leon gave me a faint smile, even as blood trickled down his cheek.
“Understood, Avrora. Thank you.”A surge of deep blue light erupted from Leon’s body, forming an electric shield that clung to his skin. The razor-like particles in the mist could no longer pierce him.
“He’s strong…” Luther muttered, his jaw tightening.
Leon raised his hand skyward. From a swirling rift of light, a massive sword emerged.
