Blood Wager in the World of Aternia

World of Gods – Fontaine

In the midst of a sea of clouds reflecting golden light, a white marble pavilion stood proudly at the edge of a heavenly cliff. A gentle breeze, carrying the faint fragrance of sacred flowers, drifted through the air. Inside, two figures sat facing each other, each holding a steaming cup of tea.

Argoes, a silver-haired man whose gaze radiated authority, slowly raised his cup. Opposite him sat Zhephyres-sama, a great god clad in flowing white robes, his eyes sharp yet calm.

“Argoes,” Zhephyres’s voice was even, but there was weight behind it. “Why have you allowed that demon to live for so long?”

Argoes set down his cup, a faint smile on his lips. “You need not worry, Zhephyres-sama. I’ve been keeping a close watch on him.”

Zhephyres narrowed his eyes. “Is that so… Then, what is the demon doing now?”

“It seems he’s traveling across the universe. Searching for power… power enough to defeat me in the war to come.”

Zhephyres’s brows drew together slightly. “So he truly has that much potential. Don’t let your guard down, Argoes. If you do… you could lose.”

Argoes’s smile deepened, as though such a warning were nothing more than a passing breeze. “Rest assured. I’ll make certain that demon will not be breathing by the time the day arrives.”

Three Days After Lucius’s Return – The World of Angelise

Morning light bathed the courtyard of Angelise’s palace. I stood there with Leon and Rose, ready to leave this world. Three days had passed since Lucius’s return, and my mission here was complete. It was time to seek more power.

The faces of the palace residents were tinged with sorrow. Lucius himself stepped forward toward Leon.

“Leon-sama,” he said quietly, “are you truly leaving? You could stay longer… enjoy the peace here.”

Leon offered a polite smile. “Thank you, Lucius. We would like to stay… but there are still tasks we must complete.”

Lucius bowed his head slightly. “I understand. Then, until we meet again at the next gathering, Leon-sama, Avrora-sama.”

I gave a small smile. “Until then, Lucius.”

Suddenly, Zion dashed forward and hugged me tightly. His small frame trembled, his voice nearly breaking. “Avrora-sama… thank you. I’m so grateful to have met you.”

I gently patted his back. “You’re welcome, Zion. Take care of yourself. We’ll meet again.”

Behind me, Rose let out an irritated click of her tongue, glaring at Zion. “Tch… how dare he hug Avrora-sama like that.”

Zion released me and waved. “See you again, Avrora-sama!”

Rose stepped forward, eyes sparkling with insistence. “Avrora-sama! I did my job well, didn’t I?”

I tilted my head, puzzled by her tone. “You did. Why?”

“Then… as a reward, let me hug you too!”

I froze. “Eh? No way!”

Rose puffed out her cheeks. “Why not? Zion got to hug you! That’s not fair!”

I stifled a laugh. Rose’s sulky face was just… too cute.

Finally, I patted her head. “There, there… this is your reward. Don’t pout.”
