Avrora in the Land of the Gods: Journey to Fontaine
The evening sky was dyed in hues of golden orange as I stepped into the Sky Train—a divine vessel that traversed space and time. At first glance, it resembled an ordinary train, with long carriages and neatly aligned seats. But the moment the doors closed, I felt my body lift as though the world I once knew had vanished, replaced by an endless corridor of cascading light.
Before our departure, Rafael—the envoy of Zhepyres—handed me a gray dress adorned with a butterfly-shaped ribbon at the chest. He said it was a gift from Zhepyres himself, meant to be worn during my stay in Fontaine. I wasn’t sure how to respond, so I simply accepted it with a small nod.
Inside the train, I sat by the window. Outside, the scenery kept shifting: cosmic lights, glimmering stars, and silent corridors of time. Rafael stood beside my seat, posture straight, gaze fixed on the view beyond the glass. His face was solemn, as if burdened by unspoken thoughts.
“Rafael-san,” I called out lazily. “Aren’t you tired of standing? Sit here with me.”
He turned quickly, as if startled from a daydream.
“Eh—no, Avrora-sama. I am not worthy of sitting beside you.”I let out a small sigh. “Don’t be so stiff. You may have been assigned to serve me, but if you stay tense all the time, it’ll only wear you down.”
“But…” he hesitated.
“Come on, just sit. Think of it as an order.”
His expression tightened, then softened. “If you insist… then I shall.” With an awkward motion, he finally sat across from me.
Resting my chin on my hand, I studied his face from a short distance. “Better, right?”
He gave a faint nod, though he kept his formal demeanor intact. I ignored it and turned my gaze to the ever-changing scenery outside. “How much longer until we arrive in Fontaine?”
“Approximately… one more hour, Avrora-sama.”
“That long, huh. In that case, I’ll take a nap. Wake me when we arrive.”
“As you wish.”
Closing my eyes, I let the hum of the train and the pulse of cosmic light lull me to sleep.
Yet even as drowsiness pulled me under, I could feel Rafael’s gaze on me. Warm, hesitant, but gentle. I didn’t open my eyes, but I knew his cheeks must have been flushed red. I wondered what exactly was going through his head.

An hour later, his soft voice stirred me awake.
“Avrora-sama, we’ve arrived. The train will stop shortly.”
Rubbing my eyes, I turned toward the window—then gasped.
The sight outside stole my breath away. Fontaine. A city that seemed like a fusion of modern civilization and pure fantasy. Towering buildings gleamed with golden engravings and crystalline accents. Streets shimmered with floating lights, like lanterns without poles. Technology flourished here, yet the presence of magic was unmistakable.
“…Beautiful,” I murmured without thinking.
The train came to a halt at Largad Station—a terminal reserved for high-ranking gods traveling across universes. When the doors opened, I stepped out alongside Rafael.
“Next, we’ll head to the Kingdom of Asgard,” he explained, pointing to a peculiar vehicle awaiting us. It resembled a car, but without wheels, levitating a few inches above the ground with doors that slid open on their own.
