When the final school bell rang, I hurriedly stepped out of the classroom.
Today was exhausting—thanks to Frea. That girl might look sweet, but she’s downright evil. She teased me in front of everyone until my face burned like a boiled tomato!

“Ugh… what an embarrassing day…” I muttered, looking down.

“Why is your face so red, Avrora?”
That voice—oh no, not her again!

“W-Whaaa!? Frea! Don’t sneak up on me like that!” I yelped, jumping half a meter back.

She tilted her head innocently. “Eh? Why so startled? I just wanted to ask if you’re going out again. If you are, I can come with you!”

I sighed, trying to calm my heart. “Actually… my brother’s the one taking me out today.”

“Oh… I see.”
Her voice dropped, and her expression turned sour.

Eh? Why is she pouting all of a sudden?

“Why do you look so mad?” I asked, puzzled.

She turned away, muttering under her breath, “I just… don’t like that guy. Always acting cool, flirting with any girl he sees. He’s gross.”

“…Eh?” I froze, unsure how to respond.

Her face went pale, and she waved her hands frantically. “S-Sorry! I didn’t mean to insult your brother! It just slipped out!”

I gave her a small smile. “It’s fine. I don’t really care.”

“Eh? But he’s your brother, isn’t he?” she asked, confused.

I leaned in close and whispered in her ear,
“He may be my brother, but… we’re not related by blood. So, keep this between us, okay, Frea-chan?”

Her eyes widened. “W-What? Why are you telling me something that important?”

I smiled softly. “Because you’re my friend.”

Frea froze for a second—then suddenly hugged me tight.
“Avrora! I’m so happy to hear that! Thank you for trusting me!”

“W-Woah! Frea! People are watching! Let go, let go!”
I struggled as students around us began whispering.

“S-Sorry, Avrora! Hehehe…” she laughed awkwardly, scratching her head with a flushed face.

And just then—the last voice I wanted to hear echoed from the distance.

“Avrora-chan! Come on! It’s big brother’s turn to take you out today!”
Michael—my brother—was waving from the school gate with his usual bright grin.

“…Umm, okay, Onii-sama.”
I turned to Frea and waved. “See you tomorrow, Frea!”

“…See you, Avrora,” she replied softly, her eyes lingering on me as if she didn’t want me to go.

A few minutes later, I was sitting in the car with Michael.

“So, where are you taking me this time, Onii-sama?” I asked.

He grinned. “How about the shopping mall? You can pick anything you want. I’ll buy it for you.”

“Seriously!? Yay! Let’s go right now!”

Inwardly, I grinned. Hehehe… get ready, your wallet’s going to cry today.

Ten minutes later, we arrived at the largest shopping mall in the city.
A huge building of glass and lights, filled with soft music and the faint scent of perfume.
