Divine Transformation - The Awakening of Avrora
Cold sweat trickled down Valtherion's temple. His eyes widened, his body stiffened, as if refusing to believe the voice that had just echoed through the battlefield.
"Th-this can't be..." his lips trembled. "Is that... you, Ceres?"
A faint smile curved my lips, yet it wasn't mine alone. Inside me, Ai-chan's voice resonated in unison. Our voices overlapped, as though two souls had fused into one body.
"Fufufu... I've long known of your corruption, Valtherion. You conspired with Minerva... to kill me, didn't you?"
"N-no! That's a lie!" Valtherion retorted, but his tone was bitter, unconvincing.
"Still denying it?" My voice was as cold as a blade piercing straight through his heart. "Don't play dumb. I've uncovered everything. You envied me... you wanted my place as Zhepyres-sama's right hand. I suspected you from the very moment I was ordered to close that black hole. That mission was supposed to be yours!"
My fist clenched, fury surging like an overflowing tide.
"Zhepyres-sama said you were occupied... but in truth, it was nothing more than your scheme! The spear Minerva used to stab me-that cursed weapon-was accessible to only three people: myself, you, and Zhepyres-sama! You twisted Minerva's ambition and turned it into the blade that struck me down!"
Valtherion's face shifted, his forced façade collapsing. A wicked grin spread across his lips.
"So, you found out after all." He sneered. "I didn't expect you to copy your consciousness into another. How cunning of you, Ceres. But make no mistake-today marks the end of your life, for real this time!"
I glared at him, my aura clashing with his, the very air trembling from the pressure.
"That's my line, Valtherion. For years, I've waited for this. For years, I've prepared myself... only to kill you."
Inside me, Ai-chan's whisper echoed.
"Avrora... let's finish this."I nodded. "Yeah."
Raising my hand, intricate symbols of magic spun in the air. A deep azure glow spread across the heavens.
"O dwellers of Valhalla, eternal shields of justice... heed my call. Descend, Valkyries!"
The sky split apart. Two massive magic circles materialized, and from within stepped two maidens clad in gleaming silver-blue armor. Helmets with winged crests adorned their heads, swords gripped firmly in their right hands, shields braced in their left.
Both knelt gracefully before me.
"Master... it has been far too long since you summoned us."I smiled faintly. "Indeed, Sylvarine, Lunareth. You know what must be done."
They nodded and leapt forward. Their blades clashed against Valtherion's, sparks exploding, the air quaking with each strike.
"Tch!" Valtherion snarled. "You dare summon these pests again?!"
Sylvarine's strike fell from above while Lunareth slashed from the side. Valtherion twisted his blade, deflecting their blows with monstrous precision, but their relentless assault steadily pushed him back.
Meanwhile, I prepared something else. A forbidden weapon-one I had used only once in my entire life.
My hands formed seals. The earth trembled. The sky darkened into pitch-black void.
"...The god-slaying weapon," I whispered.
When the sigil was complete, I shouted to the Valkyries.
"Sylvarine! Lunareth! Fall back!"
