Ai-chan’s Last Light
After multiplying every ounce of power flowing through my body, I charged at Valtherion without hesitation.
“Ughhh!” Valtherion grunted as my blade crashed into his shield. His body was thrown back, cutting through the air with enough force to shake the very ground beneath us.
I gave him no chance to recover. Both of my hands surged with magic, unleashing a barrage of crimson lights that rained down like falling meteors.
Explosions echoed as the blasts struck, but Valtherion blocked them all with his sword. Sparks and the shriek of grinding steel filled the air as our weapons clashed again and again.
I pressed forward with every ounce of strength I had. “Damn you, die already!”
“Uaghhh!” Valtherion was hurled back, his body smashing into a massive boulder that cracked upon impact. Without delay, I raised my hand and fired another burst of magic straight at him as he hung suspended in midair.
Baaam! The earth split open with a violent roar, swallowing the battlefield in a veil of black smoke.
Panting, I muttered, “Did I… get him?”
But through the haze, a figure emerged. Valtherion strode out calmly, brushing dust off his gleaming silver armor with a smirk.
“Not bad, Avrora.”
My eyes widened. Impossible. All of that, and yet—he didn’t have a single wound.
“In that case…” Valtherion raised his blade as golden light erupted from his body. The brilliance was blinding, forcing me to shield my eyes. “This time, I’ll fight seriously.”
“Avrora! Watch out!” Ai-chan’s voice rang inside my head.
I instinctively leapt aside—too late. In an instant, Valtherion was behind me, sword poised to cleave me down.
“Damn!” I growled, slamming my hand against the ground. A blood-red magic circle flared beneath my feet, pulsing with light.
From it, hundreds of black spears surged upward, firing in every direction like a storm of death.
“…Interesting.” Valtherion’s smirk deepened as he spun his sword with blinding speed. In mere seconds, most of the spears shattered, but several managed to slice through his armor, scattering sparks.
“Tch… he’s really strong.”
Valtherion bore down on me, his gaze mocking. “You think such toys can stop me, Avrora?”
I staggered back, summoning chains of magic from the ground to bind him. But with a single surge of power, he shattered them all.
His speed grew overwhelming. His sword lashed out again and again, too fast for me to block them all.
“Uaghhh!” I was flung away, crashing hard into a hillside. Before I could even rise, magic condensed at the tip of Valtherion’s blade.
“Damn it!” I gasped, my body still reeling.
Suddenly, someone leapt in front of me, catching me in a firm embrace.
“Avrora! Are you alright?”
“Onii-sama!” My eyes widened. “I’m fine!”
Leon’s expression was grim. “Is he too much for you? Leave the rest to me. I’ll fight by your side.”
“But… if you help me, what about the others?”
“Don’t worry. Ares and the others are former gods. They can hold their own. For now, focus only on this battle—with me, Avrora.”
