A Troublesome Day in the Divine Palace

After a long journey, I finally arrived at the Divine Palace. The moment I stepped through the gate, a palace attendant still insisted on escorting me inside—like I was some little kid who’d just learned how to walk.

Seeing that, Zhepyres—my adoptive father and the highest god in this world—gave me a sharp look.

“Why were you escorted here, Avrora? Weren’t you supposed to be able to come home by yourself?” he asked, sounding both confused and tired.

I scratched my head awkwardly. “Well, you see, Father… there was a tiny incident on the way, and um… I kinda got lost.”

Zhepyres let out a deep sigh. “Honestly… why didn’t you ask Rafael to go with you?”

“Eh? I didn’t think of that, Father…” I replied innocently.

Michael, my adoptive brother who’d been leaning casually against a pillar, spoke up with a grin.
“That’s why I told you yesterday not to refuse when I offered to come with you, Avrora-chan.”

“Ahahaha… sorry! I just didn’t want to bother you, Onii-sama,” I said, trying to hide my embarrassment behind a nervous laugh.

Michael smiled kindly. “It’s fine. How about we go out together after school tomorrow? I can show you some fun places around the palace.”

“Good idea,” Zhepyres added, patting my shoulder. “You two should get closer. We’re family now.”

I stared at both of them, feeling cornered. If I refused, they’d probably start getting suspicious that I was trying to avoid them.

“…Alright, fine. I’ll go,” I said, defeated.

Michael’s face lit up, while Zhepyres smiled like he’d just settled an international treaty.

After that, I made one small request.

“Father, can I… fly?”

“No!” he replied instantly, his voice firm like a judge’s gavel.

“Eh?! Why not? I just want to take a little stroll in the air! What’s wrong with stretching my wings a bit?”

Zhepyres crossed his arms. “You wouldn’t understand. If I let you fly whenever you please, how could I maintain order in this world? Every rule exists for a reason—including the kingdom’s finances.”

I blinked. “Wait… even gods need money?”

“More than you’d think,” he answered flatly.

I sighed. “Fine, fine. If it’s about world economy, I won’t complain. Still… this is so unfair.”

Zhepyres chuckled softly. “Don’t worry. Once you graduate from school and become a full-fledged god, you can fly all you want.”

“In that case, I’ll study hard… but for now, I’m going to my room. See you later, Father, Onii-sama.”

Dragging my feet, I headed for my room. “Ugh, this is so annoying… I miss the freedom of my old kingdom,” I muttered, shutting the door behind me. “All of this happened because of Ai-chan making me a god without asking. If she were still alive, she’d probably be laughing at me right now.”

I flopped down on the soft bed and buried my face in the pillow. “Whatever. I’m just gonna sleep.”

When I opened my eyes, something felt off.

“Eh? Why am I wearing pajamas? I was still in my uniform earlier…”
