A Romance-Less Negotiation
The moment my blade touched the guard’s neck, they finally surrendered and agreed to escort us to the Demon King.
Leon and I followed them into the castle. As we walked through the dimly lit corridors, I reached out to Leon with telepathy.
“Onii-sama, listen carefully. I’ll stay behind you. You’ll do the talking. We follow the plan, okay?”
He gave a slight nod without looking back.
When we arrived at the grand hall, the Demon King greeted us from his throne—a tall, imposing man with long black hair and two curved horns protruding from his head. A suffocating aura blanketed the room, yet he wore a wicked smile.
The two guards immediately dropped to their knees.
“Forgive our insolence, Lord Asmodeus! These two insisted on seeing you!”
Asmodeus crossed his legs on the throne, eyeing us with amused curiosity.
“Interesting. You’ve got guts. Who are you, and what brings you here?”
Leon stepped forward confidently, while I stood a pace behind him.
“We’re from the Vampire race. I’m Leon, and this is my younger sister, Avrora. We came to ask for your help.”
Asmodeus raised an eyebrow.
“Help, huh? And what’s in it for me?”
“What do you want? Gold? Magic treasures? Name your price.”
Asmodeus let out a booming laugh.
“Hahaha… Gold means nothing to me. But... how about you give me that sweet little sister of yours in return?”
“I refuse,” Leon said without hesitation.
The smile vanished from Asmodeus's face, replaced by a frigid glare.
“You’ve got guts rejecting me in my domain. Do you even realize who you’re dealing with?”
Leon remained calm.
“Relax. I brought a much better offer.”
“Oh? Let’s hear it.”
“I know you're at war with a Hero. We'll help you win that war.”
Asmodeus fell silent for a moment, eyes narrowing.
“And what if you fail?”
Leon glanced at me briefly.
“If we fail... you can have my sister.”
My eyes widened. I clenched my fists but kept quiet.
Asmodeus grinned, pleased.
“Interesting. The battle begins in two days. Until then, rest. My men will prepare your room.”
We followed one of the soldiers to a guest chamber.
“This is your room. Please rest,” he said curtly before leaving.
As soon as the door closed, I pinched Leon’s side—hard.
“OWWWW! A-Avrora! That hurts! Why did you—”
“What the hell was that!? Offering me as a bargaining chip!? That wasn’t part of the plan! Were you actually okay with him taking me!?”
Leon laughed nervously, rubbing his reddened side.
“Of course not! I only said that to make him believe us. I’m confident we won’t lose.”
