A Troublesome Day

The school bell finally rang, echoing through the hallways. The once-quiet classroom erupted into noise as students packed their bags, ready to rush home. I took my time arranging my books, hoping to escape before he appeared—

“Yo, Avrora-chan! Let’s go home together!”

His cheerful voice came from the doorway. Michael stood there, waving with his usual blinding smile.

I sighed internally. Oh no. Why now? I just wanted to take a quiet walk around the city.
Out loud, I said politely, “You can go ahead first, Onii-sama. I want to look around the city for a bit.”

He tilted his head. “Then I’ll come with you! The city can be dangerous for a girl alone, you know?”

I quickly shook my head. “No need, I can handle myself. Besides, I don’t want to bother you.”
Before he could respond, I gave a quick wave. “See you later, Onii-sama!”

Leaving him dumbfounded, I slipped past the door.
“Eh… is she avoiding me?” he muttered, confused.

Once outside, I let out a long sigh of relief. “Haaah… finally escaped.”

I pressed the elevator button and rode down to the first floor. Students were everywhere—some being picked up by fancy carriages, others walking toward the train station. I decided to follow the crowd.

If only I could just fly… this would be so much easier, I thought, pouting slightly as I walked.

But then, something felt off.
That faint, prickling sensation on the back of my neck—someone was watching me.

I turned around. Nothing suspicious. Still, my vampire instincts never lied.
Someone’s following me.

I sped up my pace, but the sound of footsteps behind me grew faster too.
“…Still there.”

Fine. If they want to follow me, I’ll make them come out.

I darted into a narrow alleyway between two tall buildings. Once I sensed the presence drawing closer, I stopped and called out sharply, “Come out! I know you’re there!”

A soft chuckle answered me. From behind a wall, a girl with bright red hair and mischievous eyes stepped out.
“Hehe, you caught me~”

“You?!” I gawked. “You’re the girl from class earlier—the one who suddenly touched my chest! Why are you following me!?”

She laughed lightly. “Ah, that. Sorry about before! We didn’t get to introduce ourselves properly. I’m Frea. I just wanted to be friends with you, Avrora-sama.”

“Ehhh… well, if that’s all…” I relaxed a bit.

But then she stepped closer—too close. Her eyes sparkled in a strange way.
“I knew it… your face is so cute, Avrora-sama~”

I froze, pressing my back against the wall. “E-Eh? What are you doing?”

She reached out and touched a strand of my silver hair, murmuring with an oddly dreamy tone,
“Your silver hair… it’s so beautiful… ehehee~”

Her cheeks flushed. Her expression was… unsettling, to say the least.
This girl’s completely lost it, I thought, breaking into a nervous sweat.

“F-Frea-san,” I stammered, “I have to go, so could you move aside?”

“Ah! Sorry, Avrora-sama!” She quickly stepped back.

That was all the opening I needed. “T-Then, see you later!” I said, bolting away at full speed.
