XGaster always knew he was destined for greatness and his research was the prefect way to show the world his genius!
Sun is tired of these creepy monsters but feels a growing apprentice for some of his new instincts.

LeviathanTale
XGaster truly felt he had done well for himself in life, rising up from his pitiful beginnings as a child of simple farmer's and now he was finally where he truly belonged, in the world of science with others of his mental standing.
...Although, even that was disappointing when his ideas were thrown out as insane or outlandish, scoffing at how simple minded even his peers could be but he had proof and he was determined to show the world his findings.
So what if his data had initially come from old historical documents and folklore?! That is how science progressed by taking chances and exploring unknowns. He was just making logical leaps, nothing outlandish about it!
He could already feel the fame, his peers who previously scorned him would come crawling back begging to learn from him, his findings would revolutionise all they knew about marine life and even magic itself!
Leviathan's were real and among them and he was slowly collecting the data to prove it, smirking as he looked over his shelves to the large golden scale he had on display that he had been able to obtain from a creature clearly not normal to the world. The jar of ink he had obtained from Ink themselves was a fascinating substance that he was still trying to learn all of its properties.
He had written many papers from that alone but of course the simple minded fools threw it out as trash, accusing him of losing his mind with his funding once again slashed. He was lucky to be able to keep running the small lab, his precious equipment in the secret basement which had been an utter pain to create but it was fully worth it.
His current sponsor didnt care what he did in his free time as long as he did some research on seaweed of all things, it vexing that few recognised his true genius but he was determined to prove he was right and he was already a massive step in the right direction.
Meeting one of the Leviathan had been such a stroke of luck and after using his quick tongue to try and garner their interest and not be squished by the massive octopus Mer he had slowly begun to try and reach out more. It had involved many depressing nights going out in his crappy boat that he was sure was going to sink on him one day often in the middle of the night to meet Ink in the oddest places.
It had taken him years before he saw their smaller form and even longer before Ink proved they were able to walk on land with no issue, that having blown his mind even further and had no clue how that worked as the magic needed for such a feat should have been astronomical.
He usually ended up with more questions than answers but that only made him more determined in his self imposed research, no luck yet in having Ink agree to meet other monsters or humans and even less on meeting the other Leviathan as Ink said point blank 'they would probably eat you' in a far too cheerful tone.
He had to remind himself to just push forward with his research, painfully gathering every scrap of information he could in as many forms as he could and just knew he was going to win the noble prize for this.
Soon everyone would know his name!
...but first he had to deal with some seaweed samples and check how his Mer traps were doing. Afterall, he had to know more about the more basic form if he wanted truly accurate comparisons to the majestic Leviathans!
