Red forgets to update his coworkers how feral the new Mer is. Sci has a stressful day and Core continues to plan

"Well...how are the checkup's going? Everything going smoothly?"
Red asked with false cheer while keeping a good distance between him and Sci who looked like he would wring his neck for even daring to ask such a moronic question. He avoided eye contact like it was a sport, wincing when he spotted the rips and tears in Sci's lab coat and wisely kept his mouth shut on mentioning how drenched they looked.
The dripping sound from their entire form was almost mockingly loud in the room, the amused giggling from the Mer's in the nearby tanks hardly helping with Red feeling sweat drip down his forehead as the tension grew as time passed. He should have just walked the other way when his brother spotted him and asked him to go help Sci with the weekly Mer checkup but he was a fool who forgot about the latest resident and how oddly Mother was acting.
He might have forgotten to update the rest of the staff on the new development, the near frosty glare Sci was directing at him showed he would likely be given the less glamorous jobs for a while and he would do it otherwise they would make their life hell. He still remembered the poor intern who simply got the healers coffee order wrong, the decaf coffee brought ended up with a lot of tears for everyone involved.
He wondered if he could sneak off and throw this at someone else to deal with but the glare on the side of his head grew even colder, resigning himself to staying here if he didnt want to be in the bad books for longer.
"..would you like some help dealing with the Mer's?"
He offered cautiously, like he was dealing with a hungry pride of lions which were deciding whether to eat him or not, his shoulders hunching at the shriek like laughter Sci let out that sounded a tad too unhinged for his liking.
"How generous of you, Red. Would you terribly mind bringing the new Mer closer to the side of the tank so I could look them over? Its ever so hard to do it by myself"
The sickly sweet tone that was drenched in poison promised dark things if he dared to disagree, this not a suggestion in the slightest but a silent demand that would obeyed or there would be consequences.
He stared warily at the large tank in question, Goldy easily spotted due to their unique scales but the near ominous shadow lurking behind them made him sigh deeply in stress before going off to wear the protective gear, fully expecting to be bitten a few times for this.
——-
Sun watched it all in curiosity, rather wary of this examination business and had made sure to show Sci he was not happy with it. Whenever he felt a bit nervous he didnt have to worry as the larger Mer would make an odd growl that tended to scare the monsters off, it almost a novel feeling to get help from an adult without having to say anything with seemingly no expectations from him.
Even when he eventually agreed to be looked over he still had the comfort of the larger Mer behind him, it strange how much stress simply left by not having to be on guard every second as he knew first hand how sharp this Mer's reflexes were so knew they could react quickly.
"Why didnt anyone tell me an adult Mer had bonded with the new resident?! Did no one think the resident healer should know this? Am i just a joke to you people?!"
He stared in confusion as the monster ranted and wobbly swam back to the Mer once the checkup was done, who still wouldnt share a name apart from 'Mother', sensing the amusement from them so assumed it was some sort of joke. He hid in their larger tail, staring suspiciously at the two monsters and clutching his treat which was some sort of fish which he happily gnawed on.
He was getting used to the new diet and his body seemed to like it a lot but now he felt a new smugness as he finally got what he had been needing for a very long while.
He had a phone and luckily enough it survived going in water, amused Red didn't notice him swiping their phone. Nor did Sci oddly enough, showing off his prize to the sharp teethed Mer and smiling shyly when they patted his head in praise.
He wondered what that warm feeling in his SOUL meant every time he was praised, deciding not to look too deeply on it or why he felt an odd pain at the thought of leaving this place.
He typed the number he knew by heart annoying also knowing all of his stalkers numbers as well as his memory was a bit too good and waited with baited breath for it to connect, feeling deep relief when it connected.
"Core.."
"𝕊𝕦𝕟? 𝔸𝕣𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕠𝕜? 𝔻𝕚𝕕 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕘𝕠 𝕥𝕠 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝔸𝕌 𝕚𝕟 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕖𝕟𝕕?"
"Yeah, I've been here for a good few months now"
"𝕄𝕠𝕟𝕥𝕙𝕤?..𝕚𝕥 𝕤𝕖𝕖𝕞𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕥𝕚𝕞𝕖 𝕕𝕚𝕝𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕚𝕤 𝕝𝕒𝕣𝕘𝕖𝕣 𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕟 𝕚 𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥. 𝕀𝕥'𝕤 𝕓𝕖𝕖𝕟 𝕥𝕖𝕟 𝕞𝕚𝕟𝕦𝕥𝕖𝕤 𝕙𝕖𝕣𝕖"
Core had barely had time to gather more information about the AU he suggested Sun go to before the phone rang, not pausing in flicking through the Code while also trying to keep track of all the stalkers Sun had gathered so far. That he had a list at this point made him displeased to say it lightly, having looked further to scan over every monster Sun had ever interacted with as going by Sun's luck he wouldn't be shocked if some more came out of the woodwork in the future.
Which he was more then happy to deal with now, still amused by how 404 was falling into the traps he set around but he could admit his focus had shifted with his worry for his friend, the list for plans he needed to enact every growing as Sun spoke and felt slightly stressed....but he could admit that he did like how calm Sun sounded right now.
He worried about his friend and had no clue how to help, only able to do so much but it frustratingly never seemed to be enough. Whoever this monster was that was helping Sun not expecting the AU to actually shift their physical form and quietly horrified he hadnt known it would affect his paranoid friend like that but for now just listened, having a feeling Sun just needed someone to vent to.
It was a small blessing that time was faster where Sun was, even if his friend might not agree but they did indeed need to have a quiet place, time to themselves and an adult they could trust.
He would keep it that way, hearing Sun sound light and happy made him determined and he would locate all the stalkers, Deities or not. He had some plans he had been dying to enact.
