Sun has a small hiccup in his self control but at least things are better now!...right?

Sun felt warm, comfortable with even that paranoid itch in the back of his mind to always be alert gone for once and felt so relaxed he felt he could go back to sleep with zero issue....
That made him instantly on alert as he realised this was not in fact where he had slept, jolting up and snapping at the dark shape near him and tried to focus his eyes. He hissed at whatever was near him, that scent was near overwhelming showing they had been here for a while.
How the hell had they snuck up on him?!
This new body truly was terrible and its instincts sucked if it was happy to cuddle up to any stranger, his tail lashing behind him and unaware how he was subconsciously trying to make himself look bigger and more intimidating.
"Calm down. I'm not going to hurt you. You really are a feisty little thing. I never knew that young Betta Mer Could be combative. You certainly have spirit"
His head snapped towards the voice and let out a deeper hiss in response, glaring as the Mer revealed themselves as they swam more into the light, pausing as he took them in and trying to figure out who the FUNK this was supposed to be.
They almost reminded him of a Blue but their features were a bit too sharp for that and looked more like a Fell type but he had zero clue what their technical AU would be called and frankly didnt care.
Either way he felt he was unhappy and hissed louder as they got closer, this time subconsciously making himself smaller in an instinctive behaviour to show he wasn't a threat and to not hurt him.
"Dont do that. Your scales are going to hurt if you rub against the rocks so much. Come here. Im not going to hurt you. Lets get you some food. It's ok"
'Mother' as the two leggers liked to call him to his bemusement and amusement tried to coax the trembling and violently hissing hatchling out of their cramped space, not having expected this reaction when he had brought them to a quieter part of the tank.
He pulled back from the hatchling when they whined in fear and flinched when he reached for them, staring at them with his singular purple eyelight before swimming off to grab some food the two leggers dropped regularly.
He froze when the water suddenly got dangerously warm, burning in a very familiar manner and spun around to see that the previous small Mer was much larger than before. He barely dodged the bright golden tail which smashed into the side of the tank causing it to shudder ominously, the screeches from the Mer sounding like roars that shook the lights above.
The water bubbled further with the heat Sun unconsciously let out, trails of red mist flowing off the golden tail with their eyelights tinted a dark red. They looked feral and half crazed, ther Mer's in neighbouring tanks falling silent and cowering as destruction reigned without seemingly any pattern.
The Mer sharing a tank with Sun didn't seem nearly as worried and instead silently watched until golden scales started falling off like snow, until it was no longer mindless destruction occurring and it clearly shifted to self destructive. He had to act fast before the two leggers came back, it a miracle none had come so far with a determination to not let the hatchling be taken to the herb smelling room that some Mer's never came back from.
It took hours, every trick in the book he knew with several moments worrying the tank would shatter under all the magic and red mist coming from the Mer whose body was taken up most of the tank, before thankfully the red slowly dissipated.
