grab a cozy spot & a snack, lovely, this one's a long one!

"Hi baby, I'm so sorry I'm late," your boyfriend appears, with a charming smile as he slid across the open seat in front of you.

"It's fine, sweetie," you stand to hug him and give him a kiss on his cheek. Getting a quick whiff of a perfume on him, you brush it off as he asks about your day.

"It was good," you take a deep breath, both of you sitting, "long as always."

Ben makes a face as he touches his chest, looking for something beyond the fabric of his suit, "what's wrong?" You worry for a quick second, before he was pulling out a rose.

With a small stem just for you, "for you, my love," he smirks big at you, knowing you had a long day and you deserve the best.

"Ben!" You swoon, lifting your heel covered foot to touch his leg underneath the table, "I love it," you say honestly. You sway the rose petals underneath your nostrils, taking a whiff of the flower.

Maybe that's what you smelled when you went to hug him, "oh how I missed you." Benjamin Baldwin, the handsomest man you've ever met.

So attentive and sweet, and always a gentleman, the waiter appears to finally fill your wine glasses and take your orders.

Hours go by with Ben, it feels like at least, just talking with him everything is easy, and everything is right. His voice tunes out as you stare at him lovingly, you feel bad because he's talking about his day, but he's just too perfect not to stare at.

Ben holds your hand as he speaks, rubbing his thumb against your knuckles, his tie a little undone and so were the first couple buttons to his suit.

"So," you lick your lips as it's your turn to speak, "I was thinking we could go to the Cape for your birthday next week."

"Oh!" He's caught off guard, almost choking on his wine, "um, wow baby, that's so kind of you, I'd love to go."

You feel like there was a but in there, but it seems like he just swallowed it instead, "Are you sure?" You sense the dynamic just shifted a bit, something he was hiding.

"Yes, I'll have to just check on with my parents and stuff, that's all sweetie." Ben reads you in an instant, of course he dropped his facade and you were on to him.

So quickly he recuperates, "my mom always does something for my birthday and stuff so...I'll let you know."

"Okay," you smile and nod, pretending there wasn't something wrong, "if she was doing something I'd be happy to help her."

"Benjamin the man!" Thiago appears, one of Ben's good friends and the two men shake hands. And a weird man hug they share too.

"Thiago! What are you doing here man?" Ben rises from his seat, noticing the perfect 10 on Thiago's arm.

"We were just having ourselves a nice little dinner," placing his hand on his chest he nods at you saying a quiet hello. The girl with her arm linked with his gives you a gentle smile.

"Hey bro, that's great. I'll leave you guys to it. Stay safe." Ben fixes his watch, and you very gracefully watch him check this other girl out. Even if it was for half a second.

Now he was acting strange.

Not like the other 6 months and a half that you've been dating him. And you always hear about Thiago from Ben, and now that he was here in person you find it odd as to why Ben wouldn't introduce you.
