Never Again: Chapter 42
Rose's POV
"Rose!" Iris screamed, but I was still baring my teeth at the Daemons. They weren't growling back, or moving forward. Try we're standing still in a stationary position. They were observing us, both Iris and I.
"Calm down, don't do anything yet," I demanded from Iris and she refocused on the pack before us.
"We can't fight them on our own, Rose," Iris growled and I nodded. I could probably take the pack members that were like Harry and Louis. But I would need help with the two alphas, which were staring at me and Iris. They seemed puzzled and I couldn't understand why.
"Aren't you and Niall connected somehow because you're both alphas?" Iris questioned and I nodded. "Then do something!" She said frantically and I tried.
'Niall if you can hear me please come,' I tried to scream to him. Anything. I don't know if it will work, Niall and I have never tried anything like that. I only read about it in his book. 'Please Niall come, they're here and we're outnumbered!'
Maybe we could work this out, maybe we could talk to them and they would leave. But that would mean I would need to shift back to be a human and I would be vulnerable.
"Iris, I'm going to try an talk to them," I growled as one of the smaller wolves, who was like Harry or any of the other boys, came closer to Iris and I.
"What are you crazy?! They're here to kill us, you'll be defenseless!" She bared her teeth but I couldn't think of anther idea. Running wasn't an option, they would think we're weak and kill us, and if we fought we would be outnumbered and would most likely die.
"I can't think of any other options, and you can protect me long enough for me to at least try and negotiate. Just stay wolf an let me handle this," before she could protest I changed back to human. My long wavy brown hair covered my naked chest, although I couldn't care less if they saw me naked.
As the two alphas saw my change, they did the same. The girl looked to be a few years older than I, and so did the boy. She had long blonde hair that covered her chest and warm brown eyes. They didn't suit her, she looked harsh, yet her eyes looked soft and warm maybe even inviting. The boy on the other hand, had dark brown hair and greenish blue eyes. They reminded me of Louis' but Louis eyes are full of life, his looked cold and mean. He had a tall demeanor and all of his muscles were defined. He was quite handsome, and his mate was very pretty.
I hadn't a clue what to say, or how to act. So I stood there and waited for them to say something, but they didn't. They watched me as I watched them. Iris growled and I put my hand on her head and she stopped but continue to bare her teeth.
"So you're the Daemons?" I asked, I grew tired of the silence and wanted get this over with.
"And your apart of that tiny little pack of dumbasses?" One of the lower members of the Daemons pack snickered and I let a low growl escape my lips. I could tell by the way his body stiffened that my eyes were changing to red. But I chose to ignore his comment.
"She and her friend are incredible," the female alpha muttered and I looked at Iris, but she looked at me the same way.
"Excuse you?" I asked and her brown eyes met my red ones. All of their packs eyes were fixed on Iris and I. I felt a strong sense of confidence, like I needed to stand my ground. "I said excuse you," I looked her dead in the eye and she snickered.
"Well sweetheart, I said you're different and special," she said, smiling like she couldn't stand my existence. Her being in front of me made me angry.
Why couldn't they just leave us alone? I don't understand how they think they can kill whoever they want an get away with it. It's not right and it not humane, an I'll do anything to stop them from hurting my pack, and other innocent packs.
"Don't tell me what I am. I know I'm special or rare. So can you leave us alone," I said through gritted teeth and she laughed, as did her mate, followed by her whole pack.
"Honey, you don't even know what you're capable of," the males gruff voice surprised me, but I quickly regained my calm face.
"I know exactly what I'm capable of," I said cockily and both alphas smiled. "I don't get what's fucking worth your stupid little smiles but I would be happy to rip them off your face," my anger got the better of me and I sucked in some air so I couldn't say anything else. Iris was hunched over in front of my body and I was glad. I was using her as a support, something so make my legs not give way.
"Listen we aren't here to fight," the female began and I cut her off.
"Then why are you here,"
"We came to make you a proposition. If you and your friend join our pack, then we will leave the rest of your pathetic pack alone. But if you don't want to join us and chose to stay with your worthless pack of idiots we will be forced to kill you and your pack," the man smile and I almost gagged. He thought he could come in here, propose something that's not even fathomable and think we would accept it.
But what if Iris wants to accept it, she wants to leave us. I know she does, but she would join the Daemons, that would be dishonorable. But would she do it? No she wouldn't, she wouldn't leave me. Or Zayn, because she loves Zayn and I know she wouldn't want to hurt him or our pack by leaving.
I watched as one of the lower betas stepped closer to us, Iris barred teeth showing them in all their glory. They tips dripping with venom, I know she wanted to bite them but I was proud to say that she wasn't. The two Daemon alphas were watching as well, their eyes mesmerized by Iris deep red eyes and dripping fangs.
What made us so special, yes we were rare. But I'm sure they could find another pair like us.
"Why would you want us to join your pack," I asked and they seemed to anticipate the question.
"You and your friend are one of a kind. It's not everyday we see night and day walk among us. You two are nocte ac die. Day and Night. Love and Hate. Your bond is something out is story books or fairytales. There hasn't been a bond like yours for centuries, and when you two join together it could mean mass power. We want you two to be apart of our pack, we could put your strength to the test and get rid of any of your weaknesses. Your first weakness being that pathetic group of wolves you call your pack," the female said I stood there frozen. Of course I knew Iris and I had a bond.
The female alpha said that it could mean mass power, that could mean getting rid of the Daemons for good. I don't think the female realized it, but she just gave us an extreme upper hand. I smiled to myself and looked up at her.
"Well the offer sounds great, Iris and I will consider," I said diplomatically and both alphas smiled at me. I know Iris was confused by my reply but I gave her a look and she went back to barring her teeth and scratching the dirt.
"I'm sure you'll make the right decision, we expect you to have it made by no later than the end if this month," the male replied and smiled wickedly. I smiled back then the alphas shifted an ran into the woods. I was quick to shift back as well.
I made sure they were gone before I turned to Iris an we began to run, as fast as possible.
"Rose I'm not leaving our pack," she screamed at me but I just laughed. She stumbled a bit then regained her footing and caught up with my pace.
"I'm not leaving either, I'll explain once we are at home," I said and she nodded. We ran and we ran until we were finally met by the porch steps of our creepy house.
