Never Again: Chapter 68

Rose's POV

I stared at Niall, well more like glared, as he laid in the dirt.

"Take Jessie upstairs," I said, Harry and Louis nodded. Louis had found his mate, and if by a sick cosmic twist, she was turned. Louis looked heart broken but he couldn't hurt Niall since Niall was alpha. I felt bad for Jessie too, she could've been something, but now she can't. "Lets hope she doesn't kill anyone when she wakes up." I half laughed, but Louis and Harry were already to the house and safely inside.

"Rose, I think you should heal Niall," one of the hunters, I think his name was Jake, said. I nodded and smiled, I was ashamed of what Niall did. He shouldn't have let the anger get the best of him.

As I walked over to Niall, Blake looked horrified. Like it was the first time he saw Niall as a monster. Which now that I think about it, it probably was. Niall would never hurt Blake, or anyone that couldn't defend themselves. The only way he lashed out at Blake was because Blake said he would love me, Niall's mate, better than Niall could. So this was my fault, great. Add this to the reasons I'm a terrible person.

I sighed and kneeled beside Niall. He was slipping into unconsciousness and I had to extract the venom fast or he could die. I hastily pulled a water bottle out of the cooler and dumped the rest of the contents. I needed a bowl but the cooler would have to do. I dumped the water bottles into the cooler and moved my hands in a swirling motion.

Once the air was lifted the water and it swirled into a spiral until it was over Niall's bite on his neck. He winced when it made contact, but I managed to get all of the venom out before it could do any damage. I sighed in relief and dropped the venom in the fire. It burned like crazy and made the area smell like an explosion. I coughed and waved my hands so it would disperse in the air.

Niall groaned in pain and I asked John, the hunters medic, to hand me bandages. He nodded and half smiled, handing me gauze and all of the other things I would need. Niall would be healed before tomorrow morning but I didn't want the cut to be infected. My wolf whined because Niall was hurt, I reassured her he was ok but she just let out another whimper. I bandaged Niall and he laid in my lap as I sat on the floor by the fire. I pushed his blonde hair away from his eyes, he shifted uncomfortably so he wasn't laying on the side where Iris bit him.

"I love you," I mumbled as I softly stroked his head. He was sweating, probably because we were so close to the fire. I couldn't asked the boys to help because Zayn was with Iris, an Harry and Louis left with Jessie. Blake was too drunk and passed out beside the sitting log. I was alone because the hunters had left too, they said that it was late and too eventful. Eventful was an understatement.

I used all of my strength to pick Niall's shoulders and drag him into the grass about 10 feet away from the fire. It felt cooler, but it was a nice night anyway. Well, not really. I felt bad for Jessie. Really bad, she didn't have any clue that the boys would be werewolves, and I'm sure she didn't know she would be turned.

She seemed weak, that's at least what my wolf was telling me. I wonder what she meant by 'weak'. My wolf didn't mean it in a disgustful type of way. My wolf said it like she was sorry that Jessie was weak. By the looks of her, she was bony and very little muscle. She was my height but she just was skinny, too skinny. Jessie said she ran away from home, or maybe she was running from herself. I could tell she didn't like how she gave up or how she left her family. Jessie was 19, she should've been in college but here she was, changing into a monster.

Jessie would hate us or thank us.

'That is if she makes it,' my wolfs voice spoke, I didn't know why she kept saying Jessie wouldn't make it through the bite.

'Touch him,' my wolf demanded from me to touch Niall's hair again. He was laying in my lap. I stroked his hair like I did before and my wolf stirred inside of me, but in a good way.

"Niall?" Asked and laid down under Niall's head, so he was laying on my tummy.

"Yes," Niall's voice was hoarse, I'm surprised he even responded.

"You don't need to worry about Blake. I swear he won't try anything, and if he does I'll snap his wrists," I said, rubbing my thumb across Niall cheek. But it was true, if anything or anyone got between Niall and I, I would probably kill them.

"Can talk about this tomorrow," Niall's voice croaked again.

"Yes we can, goodnight love," I said and reached for a blanket that was by one of the sitting logs. I got it then draped it over Niall. Then I turned so I was laying on my stomach and Niall's head was propped up against my back.

"Goodnight princess," Niall mumbled right before I heard him snore softly. I sighed and used my arms as a pillow. I was too exhausted to stay up any longer.

*********

I heard shouting, my body immediately reacting before my brain had time to wake up. I stood up too fast and got dizzy, then regained my footing and looked for the reason for shouting. Niall laid on the ground, he was still waking up.

"Rose!" Louis yelled an sprinted to my side, he looked like he had seen a a ghost.

"Louis what is goi-" I didn't have time to finish because Louis began to scream at Niall.

"This is all your damn fault!" I held Louis shoulders but he was strong and I had just woken up. He pushed me off and I fell over the log and onto my bum.

"Don't fucking disrespect Rose like that," Niall was on his feet, his werewolf emerging and his anger getting the best of him. I stood up too and wiped my bum.

Louis then pushed Niall over and I knew exactly what was happening. Jessie, something happened with Jessie. His mate.

"Louis! What happened," I yelled as loud as I could. Louis stopped, the authority in my voice made him stop.

"Jessie, she," Louis stuttered and I saw his eyes glaze over with tears.

"She what?" I asked again, taking a step towards him and touching his arm softly to calm him.

"She hasn't woken up," Louis' voice cracked. "We all know what that means."
