-Chris's POV-

We left the car hand in hand,
I opened the door and entered the house,
Maddie stopped in her place an looked inside unsure,
"Some on, don't be shy" I said softly taking her hand bringing her inside,
She looked around terrified ,
I kneeled down to her putting my hand in her small shoulder,
"Hey, look at me, I'm gonna take care of you alright? No need to be frightened your safe with me okay?"
She nodded,
I sighed,
"Maddie I want you to try and say my name, I know it might be hard but please try talk to me sweetie" I said looking her in her eyes,
She gulped,
Her voice was hoarse and sore as if she hasn't spoken in years and almost as if she has forgotten to talk,
"D..d..daddy"
I gulped putting my hand on her cheek,
"No darling not daddy, Chris,"
"C.chwis?"
"Yeah that's right"
"Chwis? Are you my daddy?"
I froze, I didn't answer,
I stood up and turned away,
"Come on let's have some dinner"
"So uhh what do you like to eat?"  I said as I watched her climb onto the high chair at the kitchen counter,
She shrugged,
I looked into the fridge,
"I have uhh, burgers I can whip up, French fries, chicken nuggets, I can make some Mac and cheese or I can simply make sandwiches"
I turned to see her out of her seat and looking up at the shelve,
"Can I has dis?"
"What cereal? For dinner?"
"Mmmm." She said licking her lips,
"You know what, why not, I can't be bothered cooking anyways,"
He both poured ourselves a bowl,
"No milk pwease"
"No milk?"
She nodded,
"Alright?"
We ate in silence,
She yawned and her head plopped into her bowl,
"tired?"
She nodded,
I took her upstairs,
"Right let's get you changed into your pyjamas"
"No! I will do it all by myself" she panicked
"Wait are you sure you don't want any help?"
"No it's okay," she said closing the bathroom door,
I shook it off and changed into some pyjamas also,
She got out of the bathroom,
"I'm sorry I don't have a separate bed, I didn't even know you existed until 2 days ago"
She walked Over to the bed and felt the mattress and smiled,
And hopped onto the bed hugging onto her ragged bunny,
I smiled and got into bed next to her,
"Here" I said tucking her in,
"Is everything gonna be okay now?"
"Yes, we are gonna work things out"
She smiled and closed her eyes,
And so did I,
But to be honest I still don't think I can be a father
