What has gotten into you...

-Chris's POV-
"This isn't funny Vinny,!" I said worried running after Maddy,
"Maddy!?"
"Madelyn!"
I noticed her up in a tree,
I sighed and ran to her,
She had her eyes closed, her little hands curled over them as if she was crying.
I climbed the other side of the tree just behind her,
I reached towards her putting my hand on her shoulder,
She flinched and fell off the tree,
"Maddy!"
"Lave me please!" She cried getting up and running away,
I jumped off the tree and ran after her
I grabbed her arm bringing her back onto my chest and I fell to the ground,
Her sitting on my lap trying to get out of my grip.
"Maddy what the hell, what's gotten into you!"
"Look at me" I said turning her around
"I..I'm sorry I thought you were someone else" she said crying,
I sighed and hugged her like a bear,
"What happened back there huh?" I said kissing her forehead,
"It's alright, she was just being mean about my mommy"
"Don't listen to them Maddy, you are better off without them,"
She nodded and sniffled,
"But don't hit them baby, unless they hit you first," I said
"I is sowwy Chwis I made you wook bad in front of the family, they hate me so they are gonna get you even more " she began to cry,
"Aww no darling you didn't I promise, and between you and me, i think they are annoying and grumpy," I whispered trying to cheer her up,
She giggled,
"They are grumpy,"
"Yup"
We hugged in silence,
"Chwis?"
"Hmm?"
"Can we go home?"
"Yeah sounds like a good idea, mc Donald's on the way home?"
"Yay happy meal! Happy meal!" She chanted,
I chuckled and scooped her up.
I placed her in the car and drove off. It was now sunset.
I noticed her little legs all bruised and cut up underneath her ripped tights,
"They look sore Maddy, can you wait till we get home?"
"Yeah it's otay, I'm used to it, I always cut my legs I'm clumsy"
"Good girl"

I ordered a chicken mc nugget happy meal and a chicken legend for me.
I headed back home and we tucked in on the sofa.
I sat her on the edge of the bed while she ate her fries and I pulled down her tights,
I checked her cuts and put cream on her bruises,
I patched her legs up with three large plasters.
"B..but what about the magic?"
"Oh right can't forget that" I smiled,
I kissed the plasters and changed her into her pyjamas
"Movie night?"
She gasped and nodded,
"What do you wanna watch,"
"Frankenweenie!!!"
"Good pick, who is your favourite character?"
"weird girl and her kitty! I wuv them!"
"Yeah they are pretty weird, I'm the same"
I yawned as I lay back,
"I think it's supposed to rain tomorrow, you wanna have a lazy day tomorrow?"
She nodded and nudged into my side,
We lay back with banshee and watched until we passed out.
