She doesn't expect shit.

-Chris's POV-
I woke up drenched in sweat for some reason,
It was a rough night,
I can barely remember anything after falling asleep in the hospital bed,
I looked over next to me,
The pillow missing and so was Madelyn, I say up and grunted,
I headed into the bathroom about to turn on the shower when I flinched seeing Maddy asleep with the dog in the bath,
I rubbed her cold arm,
I looked at her sadly,
Why did she move?
I scooped her up and placed her on the bed,
I tucked her in and kissed her cheek,
I sat in the edge of the bed rubbing my back,
I then felt Maddy cling to my side,
I looked over at her,
"M..Maddy what's wrong?"
"Chwis I is so sorry I hurt you last night, I didn't want to make you hurt so I stayed away" she said worried, tears pricking her eyes,
"Aww Maddy that's alright"
"b..but your sore" she sniffled her bottom lip quivering
I frowned and looked at her sadly, bringing her onto her lap.
"Why are you crying sweet pea, I'm fine I just have back problems that's all" I smiled my forehead against hers,
"I just don't wike it when someone I wuv is in pain"
I got goosebumps.
I held her close as I lay back,
Her curled on my chest,
"How are you feeling?"
"Otay, but my shoulders hurted"
"Oh? From what sleeping in the tub? You didn't have to do that Maddy," i said
"No, from when I was having a fit, I kept hitting my arms on the metal poles."
I I held her closely,
"I'm sorry Maddy,"
"It's okay Chwis, I'm better now,"
"That's right, hey Maddy?"
"Yeah?"
"When is your birthday?"
It went silent
"I don't know I never celebrated it"
I went tense
"Not at all"
"Nope mummy said since I didn't know it there was no, point in doing anything for it"
A tear ran down my cheek,
She noticed
"Dere dere Chwis, that's alright, I dint want to bother you anyways"
"I know it's just I wanted to give you a gift"
"I don't deserve a gift"
"Why?"
She sat up and shrugged,
"I don't need anything"
I was surprised at that,
Most little kids normally want all the toys in the world,
Or candy and they don't hesitate to ask for things but Maddy,
Maddy seems to be grateful for everything she has,
Which touched me,
A kid brought up with nothing,
Doesn't expect shit from anyone,
"But-
"I don't need anything cause, I have everything I need right here"
"And what's that" I smiled
"I got you Chwis, and ghost, balz, Vinny, Ryan and wicky, and dey all wuv me, I has a cute whittle doggy and a warm house dats all I need and for dat, Thankyou Chwis" she smiled kissing my cheek
"Your very very welcome Maddy now come on, let's get some breakfast"
"Okay,can I have eggs?
"Sure"
