Chris's POV-

I sat in the ambulance pale as can be as Maddy lay on the hospital bed, wired up to a machine with  a oxygen tube taped to her little cheek
She wasn't asleep, she lay emotionless, face up to the humming light at the top of the vehicle,
I sat in one side, clenched to her school bag like a bear, it smelled of her ever so familiar Apple shampoo that calms me,
Floss sat in the other side of the bed,
She kept her eyes on Madelyn the whole time, not once did she look away from the school to the ambulance,
Honestly I felt sick,
Not because  the vehicle  was shaky and the I felt my lunch coming back up on me,
Well, fuck, that didn't help,
But it was the sight of Maddy lying in pain, hardly able to breath, and her life in danger and it was all I front of my eyes and the thing that makes me ill is the fact that I can do nothing about it.
She was in the doctors hands now,
Not mine...

I shot out of my trance as I noticed floss standing up and kissing maddy's forehead,
I let a tear slip as I smiled,
Maddy got her arms to the side and she shakily sat up from the bed,
I tried to get her to lay back and rest but she didn't care,
Her shaky elbows kept her up as I heard her throat croak and wheeze,
Her small hand reaches towards me, using all her strength and she wiped my tear from my face,
She then collapsed back into the bed and tried to catch the little breath she had.
I shuffled up the seat and rubbed her shoulder,
"We're almost there, you got this" I said softly,
The ambulance stopped and silent Madelyn grasped my hand as she was shelled out,
Me and floss followed her into the hospital,
"Only the father will be aloud in" said the nurse stopping floss,
"I- really- I said gesturing towards maddy's ward,
"It's otay MR C  there is a play area over there, just get me once she's out"
"Thank you" I whispered greatfully,
I got into the room,
"Okay, miss Cerulli yes?"
"Yes" I said,
Maddy sat on the bed next to the fan,
"Okay so we need to check Your breathing so let's get rid of this shir-
She flinched and squeaked as soon as the doctor touched her,
"Hey hey, he ain't gonna hurt you like that, he is here to help alright" I said softly,
She nodded as the doctor proceeded and he checked her breathing,
"Okay so let's check you mouth open wide"
She opened her out hand he shined a light,
"Okay it's just asthma,"
"Y..you sure?"

"Yes she needs to go on stronger inhalers that's all,"
"Her lips went blue, she was shaking-
"She was just having an asthma attack"
I looked over at Maddy who at this point was looking at her feet sadly,
I sighed,
Damnit I'm so over protective I don't even trust a professional tell not me about her,
"she will need to stay a hour to get her breathing back to normal I'm guessing it was during gym class out in the cold yes?" Said the doctor handing me the inhalers referring to her shirts and vest
I nodded,
"Yes that's common, okay we will get her in a bed and she can relax for an hour okay"
I said Thankyou and left,
As Maddy was getting in her bed I went to go get floss,
She was asleep in the play area, both of them where exhausted,
Poor things,
I picked floss up and gave her the comfy seat next to the bed and got a extra blanket and pillow,
She was passed out and Maddy still lay awake,
She turned her back to me and the room stayed wil t for about twenty minutes until I couldn't bare it any more,
"Hey" I said touching her arm,
She flinched and turned to me,
"Can I come in?"
She shuffled over and I lay next to her,
"You okay?"
She shook her head no,
"What's wrong"
"I put you and floss through a lot today cause of somthing stupid"
"You couldn't breathe, we couldn't have just left it alone darling, it's fine, " I said holding her close,
Her back against my torso,
"They called me by mu mommy's wast name today" she sniffled,
I looked at her sadly,
"They did "
"Mmhmm" she squeaked beginning to cry,
"I'll have a word with the school, I'm so sorry Maddy" I said making her turn to me,
" it's otay, it just felt weird" she said wiping her tears,
I kissed her nose and wrapped my arms round her,
"Your fare shivering sweetie pie," I said unzipping my hoodie so she could snuggled into me,
"Your wike a human hot wadder bottle" she smiled,
I chuckled,
"Floss is alseep over there"
"Do we have to take her home dad, can she stay for one more night"
"She can stay tonight, if that makes you happy"I smiled,
"Can she stay every night?"
"You know we can't do that Maddy" I chuckled,
"It was worth a twy"

We got back to the house and Maddy and floss were both in sleep wear,
I had bought them both mc Donald's on the way home and I called floss's care home to day she was staying over,
Linda knew who I was so I didn't need a inspection,

-maddy's POV-

"you scared me today" whispered floss under the covers, with a flash light,
"I is sowwy"
"I thought I was gonna lose my best friend, there is no need to be sorry,
"Otay"
"What was it like?"
"Huh?"
"Dying?-"
"The dying part wasn't scary"
"How?"
"It's the part after dying that scares me the most"
"I don't get you"
"Chris would be destroyed, he would be alone again, he would have no one to wipe his tears and no one to give banshee a bath, he was alone in this house before me, and acts what makes me sad, that's why I wuv you cause you were alone, lonely people make friends together to make them less lonely"

Floss smiled and kissed my nose,
" you put my mind into words"
"That's what Chris says"
