Chapter 18 | Hidden talents

Reader POV

Shackled to the wall. Again.
Flames everywhere. Again.
Stabbed. Again...

I got up and decided I needed air.
And somewhere to cry.
I flew out the window with the blanket wrapped around me and up to the very top of the sanctuary. 

I knocked a book over on the way but thought nothing of it.
I sat on one of the broken spikes of ice.
And cried my eyes out. 
I don't know what its trying to tell me.
But its bad.
I can feel it.

I guess that book made a noise because next think I know Toothless lands next to me with Hiccup, who pulls me up onto Toothless and sits me on his lap where he wraps another blanket around me and hugs me tightly as I cried into his chest.

"We need to get you help, this is really serious" Hiccup said.

"You don't-"

"We do (y/n) its been happening non stop"

We went back inside where Hiccup and I sat on my bed reading a mental health book.

"It feels like someone's watching me, and these dreams are a warning or someone trying to tell me something" I explained.

"Well the good news is we can reduce the feelings"

"How?"

"By having a close companion stay with you" He put his arm around me "I'm your viking in shining armour, milady."

I smiled, but it quickly faded.

"Whats the bad news?"

"We can't do anything about the dreams, but we can reduce them by doing fun stuff" Hiccup explained.

"Well at least we can do something about it"

There was a pause.

"Feel like flying?"

"Yeah"

Soon we were wrapped up in warm clothes and soaring on Toothless above the frozen ocean.

I held onto Hiccup from behind and decided I would be annoying and make this really typical.

Time to sing.

I whistled the start of that familiar song that I love so much.

"I'll swim and sail on savage seas
with ne'er a fear of drowning.
And gladly ride the waves of life
if you will marry me"

"No scorching sun, nor freezing cold If you will promise me your heart.

Hiccup decided he was going to join in witch made me smile.

"My dearest one, my darling dear,
your mighty words astound me.
But I've no need of mighty deeds
when I feel your arms around me.
But I would bring you rings of gold,
I'd even sing you poetry!
And I would keep you from all harm
if you would stay beside me!
I have no use for rings of gold,
I care not for your poetry.
I only want your hand to hold...
I only want you near me!"

As if on que the snow started to fall.

"To love and kiss, to sweetly hold!

We smiled at each other and looked deeply into each other's eyes.

I could feel myself being pulled closer slowly when...

The wind picked up and I almost fell off, only to be caught by Hiccup who said we should go back.

We came back home and sat by the fire.

"You're a good singer you know" Hiccup said.

"What! No" I said.

"You are!" Hiccup said. "Your voice is so angelic."

"I-" I don't know what to say.

"You don't have to speak" he laughed.

Hiccup put and arm around me.

"Just sing"

I shook my head.

"Maybe when I'm not so tired" was all I said before falling asleep in Hiccups arms.
