Chapter 54 | Hiding and 'mermaiding'

Reader POV

I fed the dragons and met up with the rest of the gang in the clubhouse.

I felt a buzz in my pocket and took a quick glance at my phone that had a message from (c/n), I'll look later.

"So basic stuff today gang, I'm working on that dragon-eye thing we found, Astrid, (y/n) you go catch some fish for the dragons ASAP" Hiccup said.

He shot me a worried glance and I walked off with Astrid down to the beach.

"Spill" Astrid said.

"What?"

"Girl, whats with the shirt? Or is that a really thick chocker?"

"Its just a shirt... Ehhe" I said.

"Nice try, once you've gotten help from me, NOTHING will get past me, spill"

"Uhhh..."

"I'll tell Hiccup you write fanfic about him" she threatened.

"OK OK! Me and Hiccup... Well... I, uh" I stammered.

I sighed and pulled down my shirt to reveal my neck.

"Oh shit!" Astrid said.

"DON'T. TELL. ANYONE."

"Don't worry I won't"

"This is boring, wanna go swimming?" I asked.

"Sure, we can catch the rest later" Astrid said, throwing off her shoulder pads and running into the water.

I threw off my armour and jumped in too.

I duck dived under and used my wings to propel myself along.

I got to the bottom and picked up some shells before breaking to the surface.

"Collecting shells are we?" Astrid said.

"What little girl doesn't want to be a mermaid?" I said putting a shell in my hair jokingly.

"Two can play at that game" Astrid said before diving under.

"Oh its on" I said.

I dived under and grabbed some sea weed. Normally I hate the stuff but this mermaid show down needs to be settled.

I used it as a necklace and tied some shells to my hair. I'm so gonna win this, mermaids were my childhood.

I wrapped my tail around me legs and positioned the tail fins over my feet.
I flew myself onto a rock and waited for Astrid to surface.

When she did she glared at me.

"You have an advantage" she said.

"In your face, I win" I said.

"Fine, I'll get you back though" Astrid laughed.

"What happened to fishing?" Hiccup said coming up to the shoreline.

"We're finishing that in a minute, who's the best mermaid?" I said.

"Oh so you're mermaids now? I thought you were a dragon" Hiccup laughed crossing his arms.

"Whatever" I scoffed jumping onto the water and swam up to Hiccup.

"Well, wanna be a merman?" I asked throwing seaweed at him.

"Fine" he said throwing the seaweed back at me.

He took off his armour and shirt and dived in.

"Well, well, well the dragon had a bite at the human too" Astrid said.

Hiccup instantly covered his neck.

"Its not-"

"She knows don't worry" I said.

"Don't worry I won't tell" Astrid said.

"Thank you" Hiccup said in a relived tone.

"Well we better get that fish" I said climbing out of the water and shaking off.

"Later" Hiccup and Astrid said at the same time and pulled me in.
