Bucky had been struggling the hardest lately with his PTSD. Mainly with his nightmares.
Almost every night would consist of sweating, thrashing, yelling, or just not sleeping because he didn't want to have those dreams. It was hard to watch, but he would always insist that he was fine or that you should get your sleep.
But tonight hit its peak.
It started off as it normally did. You were snuggled into him and he kept an arm wrapped around you. But once you were asleep, you drifted away.
But around 2:30 in the morning, the bed began to bounce. That was what initially began your waking up, but soon he began to talk and get more aggressive.
"Bucky, calm down. You're okay..."
He began to wake up, but acted like he was still in his dream.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?"
"Bucky, its me,"
"But I don't recognize you!"
"What are you talking about?"
"HYDRA sent you to kill me?"
"What? No, Bucky, it's just me."
He was becoming more and more worried. He suddenly jumped up, being more awake. He moved away, worried that you were a danger to him.
"I just want to be human again..." He whispered to himself.
You were barely able to hear it, but it worried you farther. So you flipped the covers off and walked to Bucky. You went in for a hug, but he jerked away, still afraid of you.
It was impossibly heartbreaking how pained and scared Bucky was.
"Please, Bucky. I just want to help you."
He shook his head.
"Buck.."
Slowly, he turned around and looked at you.
"Buck...?"
He stepped into you, wrapping his arms tightly. "I'm sorry..."
"It's okay, Bucky. But it was even your fault."
"I just don't know what I'd do without you."
"Bucky,"
"No really," he stepped away to stare into your eyes. "You make my world feel so right even when it's wrong." He barely smiled. "That's how I know you're the one."
You smiled back, blushing slightly. But he couldn't see that, because it was still 2:30 AM. But that didn't matter. The feelings for each other was what matters.
"I'll always be here to have the two pieces, ready to be put together."
"Thank you," he whispered sadly, yet hopeful for your future together.
