A/N - For @Wolfpire413 . Sorry if it's a little different than your request, and sorry if it's choppy, I just wanted to get to the main story.
Anyway, set in the 1930s while they're in high school. Involves bullying.
Very sorry if it's not very accurate for real life, but this is Fanfiction. I just wanted to make sure I followed the request. Thanks for understanding.
Enjoy!
No one quite understood what it was. It was just different.
Cadence contained a gene that made one iris hazel, and the other brown. It was called Heterochromia Idiris, and it was the core of hardships in her life.
----
Currently in high school, she was known as an outcast. She was incredibly smart and incredibly shy. Because of this, she couldn't really make friends. So she tried her hardest to keep to herself, but because of her eyes, she was constantly bullied.
Multiple kids in her class made fun of her. Things like, "you think you're so special because you study and have weird eyes?" "God, you're so weird," "Freak!"
Cadence hated this life. She was bombarded by insults while just walking down a hallway. But she kept the reminder that soon she could get out of that place and live the life she wants. And it helped that in one class, that was very easy for her, she could admire this one boy, Bucky, who was much more popular and more outgoing than herself. But he was extremely handsome and she couldn't help but stare sometimes.
But no matter what, she was bullied and always the victim.
----
While walking home from school, she was thrown down an alleyway by some of her classmates, but to her they were just bullies.
They pushed her down and she stumbled back, dropping some of her books. She frantically tried to pick them up, but one of them stepped on a book.
"Oh, you won't be needing that right now, freak. Trust me," they stated as they smiled wickedly.
The other person went up to her and pulled the rest of her books out from her arms to rid her of any shield.
Once out her arms, she tried to curl herself up, but they began to punch and kick her, forcing her to moan in pain as she feel to the ground.
"Hey!"
The hitting stopped and the bullies turned to see where that came from. Cadence stayed curled up, trying to rid of her pain.
"Pick on someone your own size," he ordered as he walked toward them. The bullies figured the man was their size, so they tried to hit him, but missed and the man finally got them out of the alley.
The man approached her slowly, and crouched down to her level.
"Hey, are you alright?" He said softly, an extreme difference from what he sounded like before.
She lifted her head up to see Bucky's face, staring at her with concern.
"Cadence? Are you okay?"
No words came to mind. She couldn't think, she couldn't process anything.
"Well, I figure you're not okay because I just saw you get beat up. Here," he extended a hand to help her get up.
Still silent, she met his hand and was pulled up.
"Do you need to go to a doctor? I mean, I'm guessing some of those hits were pretty hard."
She just shook her head, because that was the only response she could have.
"Are you sure?" He continued to ask, still concerned.
"Yes," she said, quietly.
"Okay, well at least let me take care of some of those cuts and bruises. I mean, there's one right by your eye that doesn't look so good."
"Okay,"
"You can follow me," he stated as he began to walk out of the alley.
"Wait! Sorry," she said as she picked up her books, some with ripped pages and dirty all over them.
"Oh!" He exclaimed. Walking back to her. "I can take those for you," he said, with a sweet smile.
----
She never imagined that she would be in Bucky's bathroom, with him fixing up her cuts, let alone talk to Bucky.
She was sitting on the edge of his bathtub while he held a wet towel to her face, ridding of the excess blood. It stung the first few times, but didn't hurt after a while.
"I know they bully you because of your eyes, but I think they're beautiful. They're just so different and I really like that," she looked to him in shook. No one except some of her family had ever said they liked her eyes.
"Thank you, no one has ever really said that,"
He smiled, trying to make sure she knew he was genuine about it.
--
He finished with the bruise and cut by her eye. It was all patched up and would hopefully heal fast. He knew how to stitch her up because he'd had to deal with Steve's cuts all the time from the fights he gets himself into.
"Alright, that one is ready to go. Did you get any other bad ones?"
"I don't think so, none of the rest hurt as much,"
"Well, that's good," he smiled, staring straight into her eyes. It was a look that made Cadence's heart flutter. "I should probably take you home now, just in case you have to do anything tonight."
----
Bucky had walked right next to Cadence as they walked to her place.
"Oh, this is it," she said, turning off to head up the stairs. Before entering, she turned to Bucky.
"Thank you for helping me. If you didn't show up I don't know what would have happened," she was finally able to form complete sentences around him, becoming very comfortable from having his face only a few inches from her own.
"Oh, it was no problem. I'd hate to see you, or anyone, hurt."
They smiled to each other for a few seconds, when Bucky broke out of the stare.
"Well, here are your books. I'll see you tomorrow at school, have a good night." He smiled as he turned to go down the stairs.
"You too,"
"Oh, and Cadence, remember that your eyes are beautiful. Don't let the bullies get to you," he said with a smile as he turned back down the street.
A/N - Hope you enjoyed! I added a little more to the prompt because I was just feeling it.
Anyway, requests are open!
