Phase 87: The Cursed Heart I

Erylle regained all of her lost memories on that deleted timeline. Bit by bit.

The chaotic future is no more. We succeeded on purifying Benedict's heart. I sealed the Aeternos for a thousand more years. We saved Asumi from her death. Everyone that has names on that list are perfectly well and alive. There is no way that the dark future will happen with these circumstances.

Erylle did a really good job changing the future. Our future. We owe everything to her.

But now that she's a Cursed Guardian, what can we do?

Shining Star Legion is the Legion that is in charge of protecting Mirose Grande City. It consists of twenty people. Almost all of the Guardians in the legion have a rank of C. Their abilities made it hard for them to defeat Eidolons, but Void Wolf is there to help them. They may lack firepower, but their Legion is helpful in many ways to other Guardians.

Especially now that we're having Erylle imprisoned in their Haven.

I just got myself from the grocery and now I'm headed to the Haven. I'm going to visit my girlfriend. I'm with Benedict and Neo who helped me with some errands.

As soon as we entered their haven, one of the Shining Star Guardian escorted us to their basement. This is where they have kept Erylle for two days after she voluntarily surrendered herself to the Legion. There is no hate coming from these Guardians since they are all in debt on Neo with their own lives. They even agreed to keep this a secret, especially from the Black Cross.

On the edge of the basement, is Erylle sitting on a mat, waiting patiently for me like a dog. She is surrounded by this laser-grid like plasma barrier to keep her from escaping. But I know that she does not intend to escape at all.

"How are you?" I asked worriedly at her.

"I'm fine~" Erylle made this oblivious smile again, like everything is okay. "Stop worrying."

Her glowing red eyes stared at me with affection. I know that she's now a Cursed Guardian, but it seems that she retained her consciousness. Maybe everything will be okay if we had her released right now...

"Don't even think about it." Erylle said in a serious tone. "I'm now cursed. I may not be able to hurt you, but I'm sure I'm going to kill the other Guardians here. I'm filled with unreasonable hatred and bloodlust right now, so don't release me...Rawr!"

I didn't stop myself from chuckling from this conversation. The way she delivered it...it's cute. There's not even a sense of hostility from her. She looks like an exiled kitten pretending to be a lion.

"Don't worry Erylle. I'm working on a spell to remove that curse." Neo said smilingly.

"I haven't heard any Void Spells that can purify a cursed heart, but I'll believe in you two~" Erylle smiled again like she's not in pain.

Every time she does this, I'm the one absorbing the pain from her. She's still full of hope, even though she got all these tragedies in her life for saving all of our futures. She might be a heroine, but... She has a fragile personality. Those fake smiles are the ones making it all worse for us.

"We'll do our best, right Yohan?" Neo hung his arm to the nape of my neck and smiled.

"Y-Yeah..."

The whole Blazing Heart Legion is on search of another way of making a cure from being a Cursed Guardians. Heushac and Mia stayed at the Black Cross Haven in Myrrh City to search for any leads about the cure. The library there proves to be a good source of info but there is none about removing the Curse. The same thing is happening with Asumi and Atlas searching the archives of their ancestors. Zion and Skye also did search for anything that might help but it seems like they're not able to succeed.

And I... I'm just here on Erylle's side not able to do anything. Watching her suffer from this is not helping at all. But all of them said that I should just sit back and stay at her side since I'm the one she needed the most. But I know from myself that I need to do something...anything that might help her.

If only I can use the Reginleif like the alternate-me to purify Erylle's heart again...

"Yohan..." Neo called my attention.

Right now, we're outside Grove of Beginnings. This is where Benedict and Neo experiment on their collected and invented spells. We are obviously searching for one thing... a cure for a cursed heart. The two of them just started yesterday casting and chanting every spell they got. And I am here, just watching them do their thing. I can't have much of help.

"What is it?"

"I think you have something in mind. We would like to hear it." Neo said.

"If we can just have another Reginleif to purify Erylle's heart... Is there a way to get another?"

"Sadly, no..." Neo frowned. But after a second, he shifted to a smile. "But I can create a replicate."

Benedict and I were surprised in his sudden answer. Neo materialized his Heavenly Blade, Orisoner and stabbed it to the ground. Then the giant chainsaw-sword started spinning, splashing some dust into our shoes.

"You have a fragment of Reginleif in your heart, so I think you will just have to give me a Quintessence."

There is no hesitation in my mind. I immediately grabbed a ball of Quintessence in my chest, and I let it go into the direction of the Orisoner. Since Orisoner is the Heavenly Blade of Creation, he might just do what Neo says. The Orisoner must be able to create another Reginleif. I don't need a genuine one. All I need is hope. Hope to revert my cursed love back.

The Quintessence slowly merged to the Orisoner like a pair of bubbles. Then the Orisoner started glowing green light.

Brrrrr! The ground started shaking as the light glimmers brighter and brighter!

Fwooooosh!

When the light and the tremor faded, there is a white sword, with a golden winged hilt stabbed on the ground, right next to Orisoner. It was the Reginleif.

"W-We did it!" Neo and Benedict hi-fived in joy.

But me... I was the one who is being filled with overwhelming hope and happiness right now. My heart raced with the wind. This time... We will be able to save Erylle!

"This fake Reginleif is only able to be functional for five minutes, but we shouldn't really have to act fast. If you store the fake Reginleif in your heart, the counter will recharge." Neo said. "Now take it and go to Erylle!"

I smiled and nodded to Neo. Then I immediately pulled the fake Reginleif and slowly inserted it in my chest. Now, I have to run!
