Your knowledge of the forest was far greater than the Sky People and even better than some of your own people. You had known about easier and quicker routes to take through passages through some of the hills and slopes throughout. So, you, being one of the more skilled hunters and collectors, had separated from one of your groups, climbing the trees to scan for any animals to bring back.
You had left your group with another hunter who was just as skilled as you, so you didn't need to worry too much. But the realisation of remembering that the Sky People had found a bunker with supplies rose from the back of your mind, eating away at you and guilt clouded your judgement, you knew about guns from previous villagers having remembered stories for generations.
You knew that after the war ninety-seven years ago that the annihilation of guns had taken place, there was no need for weapons that wouldn't be used. You knew that the Sky People would have learned to use them, their kind being more prone to such violence. You were planning on going back to find your group when the ground of leaves crunching and twigs snapping from below you caught your attention.
Reapers.
The deranged kind of your people, brains rewired and fried. You tilted your head and followed, a mask covering your face as well as war paint covering your forehead and eyes meeting with the material. Jumping from the trees was an easy task, but at the speed, the Reaper was running, it proved to be more difficult, especially as it didn't care where it was running.
You could hear a group of young people, not your clan, of course, the native tongue being different. They didn't know what was coming towards them, you jumped down just as you heard screaming and gunshots. You ran towards them and noticed a child trapped between a tree, you threw a knife into the back of the Reaper and watched as its head snapped to the side. Eyes not meeting yours, but someone closer.
A man.
The Reaper ran towards them, catching the man off guard and the others huddled together in fear, the Reaper pushed him on his back, you yanked the knife out of its back and pushed it over, off the body of the man. It looked up to you and charged, you slid to the side, the man getting up off the floor stepping back. The Reaper spun around. You took the machete from your side and spun it in your hand.
Slicing the air just as the Reaper ran towards you, blood splatting onto your face and mask. The Reaper tried grabbing hold of you but you rammed the machete into its chest, stabbing the smaller knife into its heart before its neck. The blood was still warm on your hands as you pulled the machete out, the knife still embedded, you yanked it out and slowly turned to the man and nodded.
Another set of footsteps sounded. Another Reaper. The man yelled for the others to go back to camp, they followed his orders and he lifted his gun up to the sound of thumps. More echoed through the forest and you realised it was your group. You went to tell him to leave but the other leader hit his head with a rock knocking his body to the ground, he nodded to you when he noticed the Reaper.

You had been waiting for the others to finish with the Sky Person, you didn't know what was being done to him, but you knew that it couldn't have been good the moment you heard groans and yells of pain. You, of course, couldn't have walked in and just got them to stop, that wasn't a part of your job. So, you waited outside of the tent building, nodding to one of the guards who walked out followed but the others.
"You killed the Reaper for him?" One of the men, Rowan, asked you.
You held your ground, not showing any regret. He had been the other hunter in the group with you, you trusted him, but you knew how dangerous he could be if he was angered.
