"Are you ready for your first day of being a guard, kid?" You glanced behind yourself from one of the lockers in the Ark.

You had been chosen out of many of the applicants for the role. You made your way to the top of the rankings for the new recruits, and you were determined to show them that the selection wasn't for nothing. One of the councilmen, who had helped train you, stood in statue behind you, he had been one of the first to suggest you to the guard unit.

"Yes, Sir." You nodded back, picking up your own gun. "I won't let you or the others down, Sir," you told him. He let a smile break its way to his face before stepping forwards to pat your upper arm, he stood back straighter and walked out of the locker room, to which you let out a deep breath that you had forced yourself to hold in. "Okay, you can do this., you encouraged yourself before closing your locker and making your way out of the room.

-

"Block!" He yelled as he watched one of the other recruits swing a hit at you.

Your mentor had offered to train you at hand-to-hand early on in your training, he woke you up, long before your side of the Ark had seen the light of the sun and trained you relentlessly day-in and day-out. As of right now, he was yelling out commands to you as you trained with the other recruits.

"Good, keep it up!" his voice was firm but encouraging.

You faked a swing at the boy in front of you before dropping down and swiping his legs out from underneath him, he landed with his back against the ground, he growled out before kicking at your own legs causing you to fall with a thump. Your eyebrows furrowed in anger as you watched him get up, you pushed your legs into his chest making him fall back before flipping your feet in front of you to get in a crouched position.

"Stay down." You hissed, the boy nodded and tapped out.

"She got you there again, son." The councilman laughed, joking around with the boy who placed his arms over his face catching his breath.

"I'm not your son, Sir." The boy huffed.

"I know. If you were, you wouldn't be the one on the ground." He patted your shoulder and gave you a towel and water bottle. "I'm proud of you kid." He smiled at you. "You showed them that they shouldn't mess with you." You smiled at him before heading off to the showers.

"By the way, it's only an expression, son," you jested at the boy on the ground who only laughed out a breathy laugh.

-

"You're under arrest for illegally trading ration points for drugs." You managed to get the man on the floor, he had tried to run but you had only been that much quicker.

You had been around one of the poorer areas of the Ark and spotted the man on your watch. You handcuffed his back and the other guard who was with you walked with him to the cells as you continued.

You had spotted a small zip locked bag on the floor, it was clear with a strange red powder. You assumed that it was what the man had traded in for. You picked it up and placed it in your pocket to hand to the main officers later. You continued your watch, occasionally helping out the odd few people with heavy bags to their rooms before heading back to the locker rooms with the bag.

Only, that had been the biggest mistake you had ever made.

-

"You're under arrest for the holding of an illegal substance." You heard one of the recruits, who got the title of a guard, tell you as you went to go to your locker. You turned around and saw the other guards, including your mentor looking at you. "I'm surprised it was you of all people," he continued.
