Teaching the Teacher [AU]

Tribeca, New York. 2013

Taylor Swift makes her way towards the small ballet studio she runs with her friend Lily Aldridge. It's so cold out today that it makes her shiver and hug her coat closer to her body. "Morning Lily," Taylor states as she opens the door and steps into the open room where she sees her friend moving the ballet bar around into the area that she wants it in for her junior ballet dancers. "Hey T, how's the weather out there?" Lily questions.
"Urgh, so bloody cold. You setting up for the juniors this morning?" Taylor questions while dropping her bag down as she steps into the linked office. In their small studio that is linked to Julliard and is situated just off campus but after the ballet studio at Julliard was damaged so they hired S&A short for Swift and Aldridge. "Yeah it's just a small class, who have you got?" Lily questions as she finishes setting up and moves towards the office so she can make a cup of coffee before the class starts. "Oh I've got freshmen today..." Taylor states looking at her planner before noticing the doors starting to open and kids starting to trickle in, Taylor knows full well that the busier they are then the faster her day goes.

By 11.00am Taylor is getting ready for the freshman class which is the first of the semester. Taylor is expecting a large class but is shocked when only one freshman turns up. Her name is Karlie Kloss, she's been dancing for almost sixteen years and from what Taylor can gather she is exceptionally good at it. The class starts out with gentle stretching and because it's just the two of them Taylor takes the opportunity to get to know her student. It's one thing that she likes to do, make friends with all of her students and get to know them as best she can that way when they become seniors they are more like friends than a teacher/student relationship. "So Karlie, do you want to continue having a dance career once you leave Julliard or are you trying to get into a ballet dancing company and do this for a living. "Well I'm used to this life now so I guess if I get picked up by a dance company then I won't complain but I don't know. It's always been my plan to go to NYU and study coding but when this worked out and I got a scholarship then it didn't really matter anymore, it was just about getting to college." Karlie states as Taylor and looks at Karlie, "I always believed that I was destined for a different life. Before I got into ballet when I was eight I was into music, I played the harp and I was in love with it. But when it was discovered by my parents that I was decent at dancing then that was the focus. My little brother Austin has been allowed to do what he wanted to do when he got to college but never me." Taylor states as she and Karlie both stand and begin their exercises at the bar. "That must have sucked for you, I mean for your brother to get to do what he wanted but you couldn't." Karlie watches Taylor shrug as she moves towards the stereo and turn on music and with that they are strait into a basic routine.

By the time the session is over Karlie is thoroughly sweat soaked and breathing deeply. "Wow that was amazing, you've got a real feel for the music Karlie. You'll go far." Taylor states watching Karlie pull her sweatpants back on over her leotard. "Thank-you so much, that means a lot coming from an alumni like you I mean you're the best." Karlie blushes as Taylor grins at the look on her face before saying. "That was a great session and so I guess that I'll just see you tomorrow, 2.00pm session?" Taylor questions as Karlie nods. "Sure that sounds awesome." Karlie confirms walking out the door but not before she manages to wave at Taylor and make the older woman blush at the younger one's attitude towards her. "Bye Karlie," Taylor confirms before she begins to pack up the things they had used for the session and she smiles at the thought of seeing Karlie again tomorrow.
