Please, don't let this feeling end
It's everything I am
Everything I want to be
I can see what's mine now
Finding out what's true
Since I found you
Looking through the eyes of love
Taylor rushes through the corridor of the hospital aiming for the ICU where she was told her wife is. She has no idea what will await her there but she has hope that things are not too bad. Approaching the desk before ICU she quickly states, "Karlie Elizabeth Swift-Kloss," the woman looks at her and then down at her chart. "Room 13." Taylor nods and walks through briskly and as she approaches room 13 she knocks and enters in. Three doctors look at her from the foot of her wife's bed but Taylor looks beyond them at her wife and rushes to Karlie's side. "Oh baby, what happened?" Taylor questions looking at her wife but the question is clearly meant for the doctors. "Mrs Swift-Kloss, your wife is currently in a coma." Taylor looks at them as she runs her hands along Karlie's brow and down the edge of her slender face. "She took a fall today on the catwalk and she couldn't stop herself from falling off the runway. We believe that she hit her head, when she came in with the ambulance crew she was complaining of a sore head and within twenty minutes she slipped into a coma and so we've been doing tests but until she wakes up we are unsure what we are currently dealing with." Taylor nods and accepts the doctors words while sitting next to her wife, they inform her they will check in periodically but for now they must wait. Taylor nods and settles herself in. She knows that Karlie's parents and her own are on the way to New York but are still probably a few hours away.
Nearly twelve hours pass and Taylor spends the time writing new material for her new album that's set to come out in six months. It is 6.30am before Karlie begins to stir beside her and she immediately buzzes for the doctors who come in straight away. As the doctors storm in I leave the room, allowing peace for them to work. I hear Karlie talking to the doctors and them asking her questions but nothing happens. The doctors emerge and one approaches me, "Taylor. Your wife is asking for you. But I would recommend waiting a while before going in because we've just found out the aftermath of her accident at the runway show." Taylor looks at them and her eyes shine enticing them to keep going. "Karlie is blind Taylor, she is profoundly blind." Taylor gasps and her hand shoots to her mouth. "What, what does this mean. Will she get it back?"
"It's unknown as to whether she will gain it back or not but at this stage we are saying no. Now we've just broken it to her and she will need you to comfort her and to help her accept this for now." Taylor only nods and enters into the room. Karlie sits up and acknowledges the noise in the room but upon smelling that familiar scent, "Taylor..." upon hearing her wife speak her name Taylor throws herself into Karlie's arms and accepts the love that Karlie encases around her despite her obvious strain at finding out about her sudden blindness.
Now, I can take the time
I can see my life
As it comes up shining now
Reaching out to touch you
I can feel so much
Since I found you
Looking through the eyes of love
The next few weeks are a struggle for both Taylor and Karlie as they get accustomed to the change of lifestyle. Karlie learns to use a cane to assist her in her walking and Taylor helps her navigate their apartment in New York but as time goes on and things begin to progress Karlie starts to open up about her love for her wife and this makes Taylor smile as they learn to get to know each other through touch as Karlie can not see her right now. When Taylor changes her hair and it gets cut Karlie spends hours playing with the new length and when Karlie feels it and accepts how it's changed Karlie blurts out. "Taylor I love you but I want to move to the suburbs." This shocks Taylor but she understands and so she says, "okay. What city? Do you want to stay here in New York?" Karlie is quick to say Nashville and so they begin to look for a new dwelling. It takes a little less than a week for Taylor to find something for them, and so she chooses an extra three and they make a day to go Nashville.
Once in Nashville the women spend the day going to every house and Karlie feels every surface of the house and together with Taylor's help they find a new house together. It will be the last one that they buy for their family but Taylor agrees with Karlie that Nashville is the best place to raise their family especially with Taylor still writing and recording music, now it will at least be in the same city as her record label so she won't have to make flights to and from Nashville in the future.
And now, I do believe
That even in a storm we'll find some light
Knowing you're beside me, I'm all right
Please, don't let this feeling end
It might not come again
And I want to remember
How it feels to touch you
How I feel so much
Since I found you
Looking through the eyes of love
Taylor carefully takes Karlie's hands and leads her through their new house letting her take in the feeling of the textures of the walls of the house. It brings joy to Taylor's face to see her brand new wife experiencing the feel of their new house despite not being able to see it with her own eyes. Taylor tries to explain every small detail that would seem insignificant to many people but to Taylor she knows it's important for Karlie. She can't help that Karlie has lost her sight and although they both hope that long term Karlie will be able to lead the life she chooses it's difficult right now to be able to see the future that the doctors are informing them of. The time where Karlie will not need assistance and when she needs assistance it will only be through the use of a cane and not Taylor. It's easy for their families to see that the two women are deeply in love but their families specifically Karlie's worry for the future and what it will entail.
Karlie's parents know better than most that before her injury that resulted in her blindness Karlie wanted a family with Taylor, and a large one at that. They both agreed to have a large family but both Kurt and Tracey are worried that Karlie's blindness will force the couple to put their plans aside and not have children which would be deeply saddening but at the same time they would understand why the two women decided to change their lives but it's clear that Kurt and Tracey and Taylor's parents, Scott and Andrea hope that the two women will have a family despite Karlie's current situation. Both sets of parents understand that the accident that has rendered Karlie blind is not anyone's fault but merely an act of god and fate sent down to test the two women and their life together. Only time will tell as to whether this accident will mean children in the future or no children.
