Karlie's P.O.V
Walking into the bureau on my first day I approach the desk intending on getting my badge and heading upstairs so I can meet my new partner, his name is Taylor. I'm pretty excited to be getting matched with one of the most successful young FBI agents that the bureau has had in the past five years. I'm really excited but that excitement fades as I reach the reception and introduce myself. "Hi Karlie Kloss reporting for my first day." I state but the Barbie doll behind the counter looks up at me from her computer but then looks back down and continues to type without saying anything. As she continues with her work and I continue to stand there I'm a little bit shocked that she is ignoring me like she is. "Okay so can I have my pass then," the woman looks up at me and sneers. "You, I doubt whether you are a FBI agent. Maybe if you're who you say you are then you should take a seat and wait your turn." I look at her with my eyebrows raised and mouth open slightly but as she returns and then completely ignores me I decide to do exactly as she said and I know that if someone comes looking for me or my new boss Troy James happens to see me I know that things could get ugly so I decide to just do what the insane blonde Barbie doll says.
A few hours pass and I'm still sitting on the couch in the waiting room of the FBI building in downtown Washington DC and I'm starting to get mad. I see a bunch of agents come in from the cold and they are celebrating obviously about having a successful mission completed and I hear a few of them congratulating a woman in their midst. "That was a good call Swift, really good call. How'd you know they'd be there?" I hear her reply quickly in a small voice.
"I just knew, textbook style really." I hear the smile in her voice as she answers and it makes me grin. As they walk past me I notice the woman with the blonde hair and realise that it must be the woman that they are congratulating. As I settle back in the seat watching the small group walk past me I can't wait to hear that type of enthusiasm between my partner and I. "Kloss, Karlie Kloss..." a voice calls from my left, I look up and see Troy James standing there looking at me weirdly. "Yes sir." I state standing up. He moves towards me quickly and shakes my outstretched hand. "Why aren't you upstairs getting acquainted with everyone?" I look at him and sigh as I look towards reception and his eyes follow mine and he laughs. "Oh so you met Sonia, come with me Karlie." I nod and follow him as he steps up to the desk. "Good morning Sonia, this is Karlie Kloss our newest agent. Do you have her security tag with you today, if it's not here give her a temporary one." I watch in fascination as Sonia quickly gets into her task that Troy has set her. "Okay Mr James, I'm right on it." I watch as she quickly gets the security tag organised and within ten minutes I have a security tag and I'm following Troy up to the main bullpen where I see heaps of people milling about some are chatting and others are holding papers obviously discussing cases. I wait patiently as Troy gets the attention of everyone. "Hey there guys, hope you're all out and staying safe and I just want to introduce the newest member of our team Karlie Kloss. Karlie get up here and wave to the congregation." I smile and wave to everyone as Troy continues to talk. "So where is Swift? Swift, get up here and meet your new partner." I look around wondering which one of the muscular men in the room will be my new partner, I'm just glad that I'm lesbian and there is absolutely no chance of me falling in love with my male partner. "Oh here she is, Karlie meet Taylor." I turn around at the sound of my own name and I come face to face with the blonde woman from the foyer of the bureau. She grins at me and says, "hi I'm Taylor." I blush and shake her hand as Troy looks at his watch and then says, "Oh look at that, it's lunchtime so ladies, take the day and get to know each other. See you here at 8.00am tomorrow morning." I nod and follow Taylor who practically waltzes down the hallway to the elevators where we both walk out of the bureau and down the road to the pub that Taylor insists is the best on the block.
Taylor's P.O.V
Walking through the bureau with the guys after our large drug bust I smile at a young woman sitting there in a pantsuit and I blush, I think I managed to hide it well enough but once I'm in the elevator my good friend and fellow agent Ed pokes my arm and nudges me. "Liked that one didn't you Swift?" I blush and push him making everyone break out into large laughs. It's no secret that on my first day at the bureau I managed to kick one of the senior agents in the balls for getting fresh with me. I love the work at the bureau and I'm excited to get a new partner, I have heard that my new partner is the youngest person to ever become an agent and that seems exciting. But the moment that Troy introduces me to Karlie and I know that I'm in trouble, she looks beautiful and I don't know exactly how long I can take it before I make a bad move on it.
But sitting in the bar and talking to Karlie I'm becoming more aware of exactly why Karlie was even hired to work at the bureau. She's so smart and really approachable as a young agent coming through the ranks. I know that we will be great friends and hopefully we will be able to create a great partnership. As we talk and talk I get to learn more about where she comes from and the small family that she has, three other sisters and a mom and dad and I tell her about my family, my brother and parents. It's nice to think about talking about family with a new partner because it's not something that you can talk about with just anyone. It's nice that Karlie is starting to feel like a good friend and not just another partnership.
