Violet's P.O.V

"Mom! I need to go," a silent house answers her. 'Are you fucking kidding me,' I muse walking through the house with my guitar. Reaching the kitchen I see the notepad missing from the fridge which means that on the side table in the foyer there will be a note. I sigh but walk back to the foyer and just like I thought a note from mom. Hi Vi, I'm sorry if I'm not there right now. I've got to take Rebecca to ballet and then do some shopping. Can you get one of the security guys to drop you at your lesson? I'll make it up to you. Love Mom :)

Sighing unhappily I go back to the lounge and sit down and look around the house in LA that I am forced to spend time at every month. One weekend every month, which isn't my choice but until I'm eighteen apparently there are court papers which say that I legally have to be here one weekend a month and then Rebecca comes to New York one weekend a month too. Shaking my head I reach for my phone, pressing four on speed dial I wait only two rings before it's picked up, "Vi?"
"Hi Aunty Sel, are you in LA?" I question, biting my lip which I'm told is a bad habit but I can't help it. "Of course I am. Are you in LA too? What do you need?" She fires off making me break into the first smile I've had all weekend. "Can you uhm, come and take me to my lesson?" I hear an intake of breath and the rustle of what sounds like sheets. "Actually, you sound busy with Uncle Nick, so don't worry..." I state trying to hang up without doing it rudely.
"Don't you dare! I'll be there in ten minutes, text your coach." I nod and then say yes before hanging up. I send a quick text and get a reply saying it's fine because I'm the last one of the day. Sighing I grab my guitar and head to the door intending on waiting on the sidewalk.

"Miss Violet, your mom wouldn't want me to let you out on the street alone..." I turn and look at Matt. "Matt, I'm sure she won't really care either way, I mean lets be honest. Every time I come to LA she's constantly busy with Rebecca, so I doubt she will really care. Do you think she will notice?" I question in a sarcastic tone, making him look down embarrassed. "I guess it would be okay. Just this once?" He questions but it's also a statement. I look at him and give him a 'Violet' look as everyone calls it which makes him laugh and he waves me on. As I reach the end of the driveway I notice Aunt Selena's car moving my way, standing near the gate I wait until it stops and the window winds down, and she sighs at me. "Jump in kid..." I nod and within fifteen minutes thanks to LA traffic I'm at my lesson. I thank her and she offers to wait but I say no, she nods and gives me a kiss before leaving again.

Almost an hour later I emerge from the lesson with my coach, James yacking at me about how good I've gotten lately and as I blush a car screams up and holts. "Violet Amiee Swift-Kloss...Get in the fucking car right now!" I look at James who blushes and has no idea where to look.
"Okay, geez I'm coming mom..." I wave to James and climb into the back of the BMW and try to slink low so no one notices me. "Why didn't you get security to take you? You do realise that this is LA right?" I don't answer so she keeps on talking. "For gods sake Violet, you could have been killed or mugged or taken hostage, people would do that you know." I tut and turn my head to the side to see the LA city rush past in a blast of colours and then I whisper, "as if you'd ever care." The car stops quickly and as I look up I notice the familiar surroundings of mom's LA house.

After getting out I head to the lounge where Rebecca is sitting with her boyfriend Charles, he's rich so of course she's all for him. His family love her too, the strange thing is that when I lived here in LA too Charles and I had dated for about two years. It seems strange now, and he's a totally different person now to who he was then, but that's him I guess. "Wait a minute Vi, what did you mean back there?" Mom questions as she walks in after me, I turn and look at her and for the first time I don't see myself in her, nothing at all. I don't relate to her or to Rebecca anymore and every weekend I spend here is always the same so I'm not going to come back after this weekend. "Exactly what I said, you wouldn't care if I was mugged, killed or taken hostage so long as you could keep on living your life!" Rebecca looks at me and Charles looks shocked but mom looks devastated.
