Part #2 of Cute Neighbours
Karlie's P.O.V
"Kayla, did you take the special pen?" I question looking at my five year old daughter.
"No mama," Kayla says looking everywhere except at me.
"Are you absolutely sure that you did not take the pen that was on mommy's piano today?"
"Uhuh..." she states as cute as can be. I smile at her and scoop her up.
"Mama doesn't believe you Kayla." I state pulling Kayla towards me and hugging her tightly. She squirms in my arms so I let her down gently. She giggles and rushes away like she always does and it makes me laugh. Every night when I come back from my job at NYU, I work in the Science department as a physics professor and Taylor works in the English department the university makes it possible for us to work during nine and three which gives us time to be with our four kids when they are not at school. Our eldest Audra is twelve, Martin is ten, Jameson is seven and Kayla is five. We don't expect to have any more kids but we've loved adopting all of our children so if we decide to do one more then we will make that decision but for now our lives are comfortable and our jobs allow Taylor and I to live life as comfortable as possible for ourselves and our children. We do have a nanny who also works for us but she's only called in when it's necessary and for the last few months it hasn't been necessary for her to be present so she hasn't been.
Taylor and I still write letters to each other, although they are no longer only limited to three works they are now more like paragraphs at a time. Last year I wrote Taylor this letter on her birthday,
'Happy Birthday Princess,
We get old and used to each other. We think alike. We read each other's minds. We know what the other want's without asking. Sometimes we irritate each other a little bit. Maybe sometimes take each other for granted.
But once in awhile, like today, I meditate on it and realise how lucky I am to share my life with the greatest woman I ever met. You still fascinate and inspire me. You influence me for the better. You're the object of my desire, the #1 Earthly reason for my existence. I love you very much.'
Sometimes Taylor writes to me, my favourite one that she's written to me is,
Dear Karlie,
It's so amazing that after all of the years that have passed us by with hardly a notion of each other's existence, that now we will soon be together for the rest of our lives. We grew up as children, never having a clue that our paths would cross later in life, and that we would both find a love that neither one of us has ever had until now.
I believe that we were always destined to be together and I have no doubt that you are the woman for me. You're the best friend, girlfriend, lover and potential wife that I've ever had or ever will have. I love you with all of my heart Karlie and I'm so glad that you were brave enough to write me the first letter, without it we would never be where we are now. I love you, forever and always.
Love Taylor xx
Our lives have always been complicated and it's strange to think that all we've done since that first day is that we've gotten along like a house on fire. Ever since we adopted Audra from the middle of Arizona living in an overcrowded orphanage full of children who are expected to only live in an orphanage, not get adopted. Audra always considers herself lucky but really we are the lucky ones. Our second child, Martin we found in the park here in New York. We had gotten a sitter for Audra and gone out for the night, deciding to walk through the park instead of taking a taxi we found him, he was so small and frail and wearing next to nothing apart from a t-shirt and pair of faded shorts. We took him to the nearest police station and what started off as fostering turned into adoption and we couldn't be more proud to have him as our son. Our third child and second son Jameson is a typical ratty boy, he loves nothing more than playing baseball down at the park or rushing around after Martin but sometimes he goes too hard and Martin doesn't want to play but thankfully for him Kayla loves to play rough and tumble making it more exciting for Jameson because he's not stuck playing with his brother who he calls a sissy all the time.
Throughout our lives, Taylor and I have written each other notes and I can't help but think of how unbelievably lucky we are to have found each other and to even now be still so in love that we continue to write letters. We now make sure to post them into the letter box as we both take turns in collecting the mail so that means that once a week we both manage to exchange letters and express our love for each other for the week, we always discuss something to do with our children and how amazing we feel the other one is doing this week. Last week I surprised Taylor and added in flowers too, she loved it and claimed that it made her feel like we were teenagers again. I only smiled and continued past her with a kiss on her cheek. The faculty at the university think we are absolutely disgusting but to us it's only love. What we have is simply love and nothing more or less. We love each other, we are in love and we will always be in love.
