Second Year (Hogwarts AU)

Taylor's P.O.V

The summer has been long and with the second year of school rapidly approaching I'm getting a little more nervous. All summer I've been receiving the constant nagging notion from my parents about how great we are as wizards and witches because we're pure blood. But I still don't see how a muggle-born witch or wizard can be any different than a pure blood. I decided not to argue and it's worked, but I've been receiving messages from Diana all holidays and it annoys me because I'll have to deal with her once I go back to school. It's not that I don't like her, she became a good friend but she was always making cracks about Karlie Kloss and even though Karlie is a Kloss and she's from a rival house I still don't like people making fun of her.

As first year progressed I found myself falling more and more in love with her little quirks like her wriggling her eyebrows in Charms when she thinks no one is watching or her concentration during flying lessons. It's cute but I've said some mean things to her because I didn't want anyone to know about my small crush on her. I'm trying to keep that on the down low and so far the only person or thing that knows about it is Meredith my cat, and she's a cat so she's not going to say anything. I've got no issues there. But as I lie on my bed in my room, that's decorated in pale green to symbolise my house I'm reminded that I'm still at home and all of a sudden the thought of teasing Karlie and being mean to her seems appealing because at least I'll be able to look at her. To see how much she's changed. Hopefully it's not too much, I like her just the way she is.

Karlie's P.O.V

The summer has been so long, my parents took Kristine and I and our smaller sisters Kimby and Kariann to see plays in London over the summer, we were able to get a taste of big city life considering we usually live in the outskirts. But my parents are considering moving closer to London. That way mom can be closer to the Ministry of Magic when she has to drop in papers that she does for them, and dad can be closer to Diagon Alley where he heals people as a healer. "Karlie, are you ready?" My mom's voice floats up the stairs to where I'm sitting. I stand and look around my room that I've been staying in and nod and head out to where they are all ready to go. Mums got her carpet bag and is holding a pot of something and it looks like dirt. My dad is dusting off the hotel's fireplace and the manager winks at me as I arrive. "Ready to use the floo network Kar?" Kristine questions as I arrive. I nod and my mum gestures for me to go first. I nod and step into the green flames, "where are we headed?"

"Diagon Alley," dad states and I nod expecting that we are going to get the supplies for the New Year. The moment I say the destination I'm sucked into a pipe and I tuck in my elbows remembering what happened to Kristine the last time she didn't and she ended up travelling too far.

The bright colours of Diagon Alley come into sight and once my head stops moving around I step out and dust myself off, barely ten seconds pass before Kristine tumbles out and then dad with Kimby and mom with Kariann. Mom takes her brush and brushes us all down getting rid of the dust before dad does a spell and we're all clean again. We all wait as mom finds her list and we set out for Flourish and Blotts bookshop to collect our new books, Kristine is getting new ones and I'll get some of her old ones that she barely used but still some new ones which suits me, I don't mind her notes in the margins because sometimes it's helpful specifically for Potions because I hate Potions. Once we are fully starting to get into the swing of selecting what we need my day drastically changes as one family walks into Flourish and Blotts. The Swifts.

Taylor's P.O.V

My mom decided that today would be the perfect day to go to Diagon Alley and get all of my supplies for second year and Austin was hoping to go too because he wanted the new Nimbus 2001 broomstick so dad decided that he would make it a complete family trip and accompany us. For once he didn't have to go to work and so the moment we arrive mom drags me off to Flourish and Blotts to get new books while dad escorts Austin around and makes sure he stays out of trouble. But before we can even step into the store Austin and dad met us again as the line's too long at the Quiditch shop. We step in and it seems as though my body just naturally knows where Karlie is and I can feel her before I see her, unfortunately Austin sees everything and he notices Karlie and then her family. Nudging mom he states, "hey look whose here." I turn and see her family that I'd noticed at the Kings Cross at the start of first year. I look at my dad who follows my mom and brothers eyesight and then we see the Kloss' looking at us. Karlie's dad turns us away but mom doesn't let him get away with it and instead walks up and says, "morning Kurt, how nice of you to speak to us."

Kurt Kloss turns and looks at us, his eyes pausing on me as I look down not at him like everyone else, I see his eyes soften before I look down but that changes as he talks to my mom, telling her who is the boss. "Andrea Finlay, still haven't changed that name huh. Half in and half out of the Swift's door as long as you have the money." My mom's lip curls at him and Austin practically barks and bites his head off. I look at Karlie who watches my mom attack her dad and she turns away from me and returns to book searching. I slink around the corner and follow her, but as I'm about to say something my mom yanks me away. "Come Taylor, we're leaving. We don't associate with these people..." I nod and look at Karlie who seems shocked at my response but I don't say anything except. "See you at school giraffe." She looks hurt and I feel bad but then she turns and ignores me. I allow myself to be dragged off vowing that she will pay one day and that she will never turn away from me again... 'I just need to wait until I'm back at school...' I mull over in my head.
