Taylor's P.O.V

This is it. Our first day at Cornell together, I roll over towards the window where the sunlight is streaming in. It's already 9.12am but I'm all alone because Karlie left at 7.30 to make it to her 8.00am lecture in coding. She's loving her computer science degree and I'm loving my music and arts degree. It's a complete mix because I'm specializing in guitar and piano and I've decided to add English papers into it as well which has led to a mixed degree. So far I'm loving it and I know that she is too.

Looking out at the beautiful day I decide that instead of staying in bed that I will get up and dressed. Hopefully I can find some type of meat in our freezer so that I can cook dinner tonight after our shift at the local café where we're working. Today I don't have any classes and my shift at the café starts at 12pm and finishes at 5pm. Karlie has lectures until 11am and then she will come home and we can head over together.

Walking down the hallway of the small three bedroom house that Karlie and I co-brought only three blocks from the university I notice that I really need to paint the walls soon before we put things up like our favourite pictures from home. Shaking my head I continue down to my favourite part of this house, the kitchen. It's so white and clean and the last owners put in a completely new kitchen meaning that all the features are similar to what we had at home and so I know how to use it all perfectly. Walking over to the freezer I pull out some chicken so we can make a quick stir-fry after work tonight. I pull out eggs and bread and make a quick two pieces of French toast. The maple syrup is running low so I need to remember to get some tomorrow when we go shopping.

After finishing my food I see that it's 10.47am so that means that I need to get dressed and showered too. I rush to the bathroom stripping off my pyjamas as I go and flipping the water to hot, I grab my toothbrush and toothpaste hoping to speed up the process of getting ready. I'm almost through when the shower curtain moves and Karlie's face appears. "What'cha doing babe?" I squeal and attempt to shut the curtain but Karlie doesn't let me and instead she joins me. Kissing me on the lips she and I hug for a few minutes as the water steams over us. "I think we should head into work now." I state as we look at each other and Karlie nods.
"You're right, what time are we finishing?" She questions as I reach for our towels hanging on the hooks. "5 tonight, I'm on front counter and you're on baking today. I think there is a demand for your cinnamon cookies so there's that for you to look forward to.

Karlie's P.O.V

The café is off the chart tonight and the cinnamon cookies are going out as quickly as we're making them. From what I've seen Taylor is being rushed off her feet with the crowds so I can only expect that it's actually busier than what I've seen. As the clock nears 5pm the boss Tasmyn sticks her head through the door and whistles for me to get out of the kitchen and I nod. "Yeah T...I can see that." I state putting the last tray in the oven before taking my apron off and going to grab mine and Taylor's things and going out to meet her at the counter. She's not there though and as I look around I see that she's talking to some of the locals in the corner booth. They're content and she turns around and spots me, she quickly smiles and makes her way back through the tables to me. Kissing my lips she hands her notepad that she uses to take orders on over to Amanda who is working the tail end of the shift and she takes my hand and we leave.

On the way home we kiss and walk along the streets of Ithaca looking at how different it is to back home. Since we've been here there have been multiple times we've questioned coming to Cornell because if we were at home we could go to our local university and stay home and earn money. But there was something about Cornell when we visited so it was exciting that we were both accepted and our house is beautiful. We've decided that we can sell after our four years here, if we need to. On the way home we pass by a pet store, I keep walking but Taylor stops and admires a weird looking cat in the window. By the sign it's a Scottish Fold and it's very cute and as she goes to move on I stop her. "Do you like the cat?" she nods.
"Let's get it then." I say and she looks at me like I'm crazy but I'm not. I think a cat would make our place complete. So without even looking twice at the price we walk in and in twenty minutes we're home with Meredith. Dr Meredith Grey. It's the first official thing that's not ourselves that we are going to need to feed and take care of. That both excites me and scares me because we've moved on from high school sweethearts to true college partners.
