Archie's P.O.V

"I'll see you later babe. Practice starts in a few hours. I've got to go and get ready." I state walking out of the bathroom upstairs and into the bedroom. "That's fine, can you get Maddie from her crib on the way?" my wife questions from down the hallway in the other bathroom. I nod but I know that she can't see me. "Miss Maddie," I call walking down the hallway to my daughters nursery and that's when I hear a giggle which makes me grin. "Hello missy..." I say walking inside her nursery and grinning at my daughter who reaches out to me. "Dada..." I scoop her into my arms like I've done ever since she was a few hours old. Her tiny fingers brush over my rough stubble and I can feel a slight wetness to them which makes me groan because I know she's been sucking on them. "Oh Maddie, why'd you do that you little bugger...should we go and get mama..." I question as she bounces up and down in my arms. I grin at her and walk out of the nursery and down to where Maddie's mother stands resting against the banister of the stairs. "Hi baby..." she coos at me which makes me grin. "Aww you're cute too baby..." I state but she only says.

"Silly, I was talking to Maddie..." my wife states taking our baby girl out of my arms and kissing me on the cheek. "I know that babe, I've got to go." She nods and takes Maddie into her arms before turning her to face me and saying. "Say bye to daddy...we'll see him later at the game." Becca states kissing Maddie's head and she says, "ball" in return to which I nod and she waves bye bye.

As I walk into work with my fellow team mate Chris. We're greeted by our coach Martin Luth who coaches the San Diego Padres that I play second base on. I've been a Padre for almost four years now and that's where I came and played ball after I finished College. It had always been my mothers dreams for me to go to college and so I attended Notre Dame like my Uncle Austin and then I made a deal with mama that if I got good marks then I could do whatever I wanted in life. I got honours and it was agreed on by myself and Becca, who I had dated through College as I'd been left alone that I would enter into the MLB draft. I wasn't selected and so that's how I came to be a part of the Padres team and playing second base.

A few hours pass and as the coach tells us it's time to get organized for the game. I see Becca arrive with Maddie and then I see my parents walk in. Mama is decked out in Padres gear while mom always trying to be prim and proper wears the colours of the team. They've been supporting me at home games for the past four years. But even more recently as they've started to live out in California again to be close to Maddie who is growing bigger and bigger every month. The game moves fast and as it comes to and end we trail by one with only one out remaining and Chris Williams up to bat. He steps up and after two strikes and three balls we have a full count. The pitcher has been pitching wild all day and I know that a ball is coming next. Hitting next ball squarely the ball starts flying out towards the far right but just as I think its going out of the park it drops suddenly into the glove of the outfielder Thompson. Just like that the games over and as we all hang our heads in disgrace of the game finishing like that I still smile because I get to see Maddie when the games over. I also get to hang out with Becca and my moms when the night is getting on.

As I exit the changing room at the end of the night I see Becca waiting with Maddie in her arms, she's rocking her from side to side and I know that she's getting tired. Kissing Becca on the lips and pressing a light kiss to Maddie's head I smile. "Let's go home babe." She nods,
"Are you sure you don't want to go out with the team?" I shake my head to indicate no. "Are you sure its not like you can't." I nod and kiss Becca again as we walk out.
"I'm sure. There's nothing I want more right now than to hang out with my girls let's go home." She smiles as we all leave Padres Field.

This will be the last update until at least the end of October. I've got to focus on finishing off university with good marks, i'll still be reading and voting on other material and answering messages so feel free to leave them still.
