"Nice practice everyone! I'll be on my way!" You wave to your team with a large smile. They wave back and your captain calls out, "Great job, (y/n)! Don't forget to tend to your-"
"I said I'm fine, Yui! Thanks for your concern!" You laugh before walking out of the gym. You felt a small pain in your right ankle as you walked, but you shrugged it off. You hum a random tune as you make your way to the other gym on campus.
. . .
Once you get there, you sit outside the door. You lean your head up against the building as you wait. Your ankle was pulsing in pain from the long walk, but you just massaged it and the pain slowly ceased. You let out a quiet sigh. You smile at the sound of balls hitting the floor echoing across the gym. Every once and A while, you would hear the satisfying sound of someone receiving a ball from hitting the ground. A muffled voice calls out and the balls stop. A few minutes later, the door to the gym opens and a head pops out.
You grin, "Hey Koushi! How was practice?"
The grey haired male gives you a warming smile, "Hi (y/n)," You stand from your spot and Koushi moves beside you as you begin to walk, "Practice was fine. You?"
"I made a lot of great receives! Couch even said they would be lost without me!" You grin, mentally cheering and praising yourself. Koushi puts a hand on your shoulder,
"That's great, (y/n)! I'm so proud!"
The two of you continue to walk home in comfortable silence. You and Koushi have been friends since junior high. He had always been there for you and you were always there for him. In your friendship, He was like the protective mother and you were the problematic child. But the two of you liked it that way and never want it to change, even after you graduate this year.
Suga soon felt his eyes trail down to you walking beside him. A soft smile was on your face, which he could see clearly because your (h/c) hair was swept back into a ponytail. You were really pretty at the moment so he couldn't help but stare. That is until he notices something seems off with you.
Your smile goes away every time you step and is replaced with a small look of pain. Your steps seemed a bit odd as well. It's obvious your trying to hide it, but Koushi could tell you were hurt.
"(Y/n), are you alright?" Koushi stops walking and you do to, giving him a confused look.
"Of course, why do you ask?"
"You're limping."
You grin, "I'm fine, Koushi. But thank you for your concern."
You begin to walk again, but your right ankle gives out and you fall onto your knees, scraping them on the sidewalk. Accidentally scraping your palms while trying to catch yourself, you let out a quiet hiss. The vice captain is immediately by your side.
"(Y/n)! Are you ok? Are you hurt?"
You laugh, covering up the fact you were in any kind of discomfort. "It's fine. I just tripped, that's all."
He wasn't buying it.
"Let me see your ankle."
You sigh, but listen to Koushi, letting him see your ankle. As he examines your ankle, you marvel over how protective he is. You've always known how much you meant to him, but sometimes you never truly realize it. You were lucky to have him.
"(Y/n), you sprained your ankle! Why were you trying to walk on it?" Koushi finally spoke up, looking at you with concern.
"Oops, sorry. I didn't know it was sprained." You lie. Koushi rolls his eyes.
"Get on my back."
"Pardon?"
"Get on my back. I'm carrying you home. Walking on a sprained ankle only makes it worse." Sugawara begins to lift you up.
"K-Koushi, you really don't have to..."
But you were already up. Suga was carefully holding you up onto his back and your arms clinged around him. He was surprised at how light you are.
His hair smells nice, even though he had just practiced for over an hour.
You smile, "Thank you"
"No problem, (y/n). I'm glad I could help you."
"I'm sorry"
There was a few seconds of silence before Sugawara spoke, "What do you mean?"
Still holding a smile, you sigh, "I mean, I'm sorry for causing you so much trouble. Ever since we were kids, you have always been there for me. No matter what I did wrong, you always stuck by my side. Even though I would try to help you too, it could never compare to how amazing you are to me. I always felt bad because I thought I was a bad friend. All I did was get myself into trouble or hurt myself and you would help me back up again. Heck, your carrying me home because I was too careless at volleyball."
You take a breathe and slow down, realizing you were beginning to rant.
"I just want to let you know how much you mean to me, Koushi. I appreciate how much you look after me and How much you care. You are a wonderful person. And I'm not"
Suga stopped walking to look at you from the side, "(y/n), don't say you're not a wonderful person. I think your wonderful. Your cheerful and kind to everyone you meet. You put your team and volleyball before you, even if it means injuring yourself in the process. Though you may not realize it, just having you around makes my day."
"Koushi..." You were awestruck by his words. Laughing, he adds, "And I quiet enjoy looking after you (y/n)!"
Feeling better, you chuckle, "Oh really, why is that?"
A short pause fills in the space it takes for Suga to say what he wants to. He mentally praises himself for not stuttering.
"Because it gives me a reason to look at you all the time"
Koushi looks to at the ground trying to hide his blush, which makes him even more adorable. There's no reason for him to hide his face because yours is an even deeper shade of red. It's quiet between the two of you as you bury your hot face in his shoulder, but he can feel you smiling. He realizes he has to seal the deal after that comment, and he takes no time in doing so,
"I really like you..."
You take a moment to let it all sink in, which makes your heart flutter. Grinning, you lean forward and press your lips against his soft cheek, letting your lips linger for a moment before pulling away. You could almost feel his wide grin radiating off him.
"I really like you too"
With that, he tilts his head back to kiss you on the lips. It's a wonderful feeling that you know you'll treasure forever. Once the two of you pull away, all you can see is him and he can only see you. Both of you suddenly burst into giggles thinking about how cheesy this must look. Once the giggle fit stopped, you let out one last laugh,
"Now you don't need a reason to look at me all the time"
