Ten years later....

"I challenge you Adam Grey!" The large warrior growled angrily.

He had every right to be angry. one of our pups and his only pup had been playing a game. Steven our eldest pup has dared the younger girl to go out into the forest alone. Adeline being a stubborn child had done it. This of course was much too dangerous, the girl had gotten attacked by rogues and killed. Poor baby. So instead of two dead pups the father of the dead pup had the right to challenge the father of the one who caused the death. in this case things were not looking good for us.

Adam was a doctor not a warrior, there was no way he could beat this other wolf in a fight. tears sprang to my eyes at the thought of losing my mate. suddenly a voice cut through the commotion.

"Stand back Adam." Aiden commanded as he stepped out of the forest.

I hadn't seen Aiden in nine years. once he had finished high school he had moved away to a military pack to be a trained warrior. He had changed so mush in these nine years it was amazing.

"This is none of your concern! This is between me and that murderer's father!" The livid warrior spat. 

"I guess I showed up at a good time then. I am the true father of that 'murderer' you speak of." Aiden announced shocking the other warrior.

Now the tables were turned, Aiden was a large wolf, at least a head taller  than his challenger. The smaller man saw the shift in power before his eyes. This would not end well for him, but he couldn't stop his challenge.

Lucky for him Aiden was kind. "I don't want anyone to lose their child and mate. Go in piece or die." 

"I will leave you then but from this day forward our families will never associate with one another." The warrior decreed backing out of certain death to mourn their lost pup.

Aiden turned towards me and Adam with one brow raised.

"What the he'll bro? I leave you to raise my pups for a decade and all he'll breaks loose!" He laughed.

Adam growled at the mention of 'his pups' but let's it go under the circumstances.

"Thanks Aiden. You came at an amazing time. I thought I was going to lose him." My nerves were shot. I fell to the ground in a relieved crying mess. Adam rushed to pick me up.

"Ssshhhhh... baby its ok I'm fine the pups are fine. Thank you Aiden I honestly was afraid for my life." Adam told his brother swallowing the tiny bit of pride every wolf had in them to show his gratitude.

"Any time bro. You saved me all those years ago, it's the least I could do." He smiled at his brother.

Right then one of the pups came dashing up to me and Adam.

"Mama what's going to happen now? Will papa be ok?" Sarah asked sweetly.

"Yes baby, your uncle is big and strong he stopped the bad wolf from getting him." I explained simply not wanting to go into detail with a ten year old.

"Oh, good!" She jumped on Adam and he proceeded to play with her as I looked up at a smiling Aiden.

"They are adorable. I feel bad I missed it. " Aiden admitted.

"You were too young then. One day you'll find your mate and have pups you'll want to cherish." I assured.

"Yeah one day. Until then mind if I play with my 'nieces' and 'nephews'?" He  asked.

I smiled and nodded. As I watched the two most influential men in my life play with our pups I felt sad knowing the pups would never know the truth.
