Moon and Nathaniel

"Alpha! Alpha! Your saved! Your beloved is here." Salem shouted as we ran through the village.

It kind of embarrassed me but what was I supposed to do about it. I could barely keep up with Salem, he was running too fast in his excitement.

"What's going on Salem? Why are you shouting like a mad man?" I heard Alpha Star shout out before I saw him.

When he pushed past the animal skin acting as the door to his cave and saw me his eyes widened in shock and his face split into a grin.

"Nathaniel! Thank goodness you have returned! Moon hasn't been well since you left. I even had to resume alpha duties." Star quickly explained as he pulled me into his home.

"Where is he? I have something important to tell him." I looked around the cave searching for my big strong mate.

"He's through there." Alpha Star pointed to the back of the room towards another hanging skin.

I walked towards it looking back at Star for permission. I pushed past the skin at his nod. I was finally goind to see Moon again. I should have never left his side.

What I saw when I walked through the door shocked me. My Moon was laid out on the floor. His face was hallow and lifeless. I could even see ribs poking out of his chest. Had he not eaten since I left?

"Moon!"

His head turned towards me weakly. His eyes brightened a bit at the sight of me but his smile was not full.

"Leave me demons. Do not torture me in such a way." His voice came out in a rasp.

"No Moon! Its really me, it's Nathaniel!" I knelt down beside him and felt his forehead. He was burning up. "Alpha Star! I need food and medicine for Moon!"

Just the look of Moon was enough to make  tears fall. He was so healthy and vibrant two weeks ago. Now he looked as if he would die any second.

"He wouldn't take anything before. It will be up to you to get him to eat." Star informed me setting some syrupy like substance next to me. "Make sure he eats before taking the medicine."

After instructing me Star left me to nurse my mate.

"Babe, come on, it's time to eat then we need to get you some medicine for your fever." I tapped his cheek a bit to get his eyes to focus on me.

"Nathaniel..." Moon gave me  a dazed smile and caressed my cheek. "Is it really you? Have you returned to me?"

"Yes it is Moon. Now sit up and eat." I ordered gently.

"Anything for you. I waited a week, hoping to hear back from you but when you didn't make contact I started losing hope. This past week I couldn't even force myself to eat like I had been. All I could think about was you. Why didn't you contact me?" Moon looked annoyed as I nudged food towards him before I gave him an answer.

"My dad wouldn't let me. I am so sorry Moon. If I had known you would get like this I would have ran away sooner.... or not left at all." I looked down sadly at my mate.

"Its ok. Your here now that's all that matters, but why did you have to run away from your father? We are mates, he can't keep you away from me if you want to be with me." Moon frowned at the thought as I prodded another bit of food into him.

"He was very angry. He even ignored the fact that I am pregnant. Even after telling him, he was going to make me stay."

Moons eyes widened in shock. "Pregnant! My love you are with child?"

I had completely forgot he didn't know. "Yes! I can't believe it either. I'm excited though."

The happiness that had crossed his face was suddenly clouded over with anger. The seemingly weakened Moon shot up to his feet.

"That bastard was going to keep my pup from me! This is a new level of disrespect. I'm sorry my love but I am going to have to war with your father!" Moon growled in indignation.

"What! Please no. I'm here now that is all that matters. Just leave him alone Moon.  It's bad enough that I'm probably never going to see him again. I don't want it to be because he's dead." I stood from where I was kneeling and pressed my hands against Moons chest as if to restrain the big man.

"It looks like the choice is no longer up to Moon. Your father already has an assembly of war wolves at the territory line." Alpha Star announced inturupting my plea.

"What! Why?" I looked at the older man in panic.

"Obviously it's because if you. He's come to get his pup back. Don't worry though, the pack will defend their Luna with their lives. We already have a unit on the move to intercept Alpha Mark." Star tried to assure me but none of this was reasurring.

"No! Call them back. Let me speak to my dad privately. I'll get him to call off the attack." I begged.

"It's too late to call off anything. They are already falling upon each other as we speak." The Alpha informed me sadly as his eyes went blank, looking into his pack link.

"No!" I shouted and ran from the room as quickly as I could.

Both Moon and Star grabbed for me but I dodged  them just barely slipping through their fingers.

"NATHANIEL WAIT! IT'S TOO DANGEROUS FOR YOU!" I heard Moon shout after me but I ignored it.

I had to stop my dad from dying or getting some innocent warriors killed in the process. Human speed was just too slow. I quickly shifted mid stride and redoubled my efforts.

Sure enough when I got to the field it was a blood bath. Mostly just injuries since I couldn't see any unconciouse bodies. I looked around for my dad's wolf. I saw him near a tree circling with Salem. I had to stop him! I ran between the two men at full speed just as my father lunged.
