"We are in a crisis! Our Alpha has not found his mate. What will happen to the pack if Dominic dies without an heir?" The beta shouted out to the crowd.

I was a bit nervouse about this meeting. The Alpha would be turning forty in a week but he was still stuck in wolf form not having found his mate yet. With the alpha getting too old the pack was desperate for him to have pups to carry on his Alpha blood.

The giant wolf was currently seated on the right side of his beta who had to speak in his place. The Alpha was a beautiful wolf. Anyone would be happy to have him for a mate I'm sure. I wasn't sure about his personality since I've only ever seen him in wolf form, I didn't know what kind of man he'd turn out to be. It was hard to see intent and emotions on a wolf.

"Able!" My baby brother Alec wines as he tugs on my shirt.

"What!" I hiss annoyed. I wanted to hear what was going on.

"Why can't the Alpha turn into a person like us? I don't get it, I can be human whenever I want." Alec asked confused.

I sighed wishing our mother was alive to teach my brother the obvious things in life.

"No Alpha is granted the power to turn human until he or she has found their mate. That is the price an Alpha must pay for their immence power." I explained quickly turning to face the front hopeing I didn't miss anything.

"Line up single file please so that the Alpha may choose." The beta announced suddenly.

What had I missed? I looked at an older wolf to my right. "What's going on? I didn't hear what he said."

"The Alpha will no longer be waiting for his mate. He will mate with an unmated pack member immediately."She explained.

"Oh? Who's it going to be?" I asked excitedly. This has never happened before, I felt bad for the poor person who would have to mate with the Aalpha, but I loved a juicy bit of  gossip.

"Get in line and find out like the rest of us." She smirked.

"What?" Now I was really confused.

"Every unmated male or female under the age of thirty has to line up and present themselves to the Alpha." She explained running off to join the line forming.

I had to be in that line to? I didn't want to carry the Alphas pups. I could barely take care of my little brother. Plus we would have to do it in wolf form.  I frowned. I had hoped for a more... romantic first time. Instead I might have to just get mounted from the back.

"Able, shouldn't you get in line?" Alec asked tugging on my arm.

"No way." I huffed looking down at my brother.

I had been taking care of him for the past five years. Not very well but still. His face was dirty since I hadn't forced him to bath in a few days. His cloths were a bit old and just a little too small but he would be fine until I could buy him new ones in a few months.

"Able! Why aren't you getting in line?" Mrs. Stevens chastised when she saw me not making a move.

"Why should I? I refuse to be mounted like some animal." I argued.

"I thought you of all people would be the first to jump in line. Carrying the Alphas pups has its advantages you know."

"What do you mean?" I asked, now a bit more interested in the prospect.

"Didn't you hear the beta? You will want for nothing and your family will be duly compensated." She explained looking down at my brother.

"What!" I crouched down to my brothers level. "Stay with Mrs. Stevens I'll be right back."
