Riley's P.O.V.
We were screwed.
It was already 3 am and we still hadn't found anyone or anything.
We'd been walking for 30 minutes and were already exhausted.
"Alright lets take a break here." I said as they led me to a tree and helped me sit down.
"My shoulders are numb." Said Elise.
"Mine too." Madison complained. "We're gonna make you crawl the rest of the way."
"Oh whatever I'm not that heavy." I stated.
"Yes... You are." Maddy retorted.
"Stop complaining. If you were in my position I'd carry you on my back without hesitation."
"Riley you're almost a grown man. And you're athletic. You could carry me with ease. Meanwhile I'm 120 pounds and the most athletic thing I've ever done is walk up and down the stairs in my house."
"Not my fault you two are weak ass females."
"I say we leave him here and let him rot." Elise insisted.
"I totally agree." Maddy replied. "But we need him in case an animal or something tries to attack us. We can use him as bait."
Girls are evil.
I looked at our surroundings and noticed that something was off.
When I realized what it was I nearly lost every bit of hope I had.
"We're going in circles..." I said.
"What?" Asked Madison.
"We're going in circles." I repeated.
"That's not possible though..." Elise stated. "We've been walking straight the whole time."
"I know..." I began. "But look at those leaves..." I pointed to a pile of leaves about 5 feet away from us. "Didn't you say the leaves cushioned your fall?"
"Yea..." Madison said as she stepped closer to the leaves.
"Look at the imprint. That's the imprint of a body. That's the same pile of leaves we passed 30 minutes ago. And then look at this tree."
They both came closer to the tree i was sitting against and examined it.
"There's blood on it from when you were leaning your head against it." I said to Maddy.
"This doesn't make sense." She softly replied. "None of this makes sense."
Suddenly we heard leaves rustling.
It sounded like something was running towards us.
We looked back towards the direction we'd came from and nearly peed our pants when we saw a tall ass dark figure literally charging at us.
"What the hell is that?" Elise asked.
"I don't know but we have to go." I said. "Now."
They helped me up as I put my arms back around them.
"We can't keep running straight if we're just going in circles." Madison remarked.
"I know. We have to go deeper into the woods." I stated.
They both looked at me in fear but eventually we ended up running west.
We shot through trees, zigzagging our way around them so as to throw off whatever or whoever was chasing us.
