Today was a good day.

I woke up in the morning, packed my newly bought blazer and formal shoes and left for college. I met Kristen and Paul at the resident coffee house and changed into my college T-shirt and formal shoes. They did call me an old woman for carrying my shoe box but I'm too comfortable around them to give two fucks.

Then I met my two friends in our auditorium and waited for the event to begin.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear that our chief guest for today's function showed up on time. That rarely happens.

By the way, the function I'm talking about here is the graduation ceremony for our college's first post grad batch. Yes, I do keep on saying that we're the first batch because frankly, we never really had much interaction with them. Nonetheless, I was excited for their graduation ceremony because in a year and a half, we might get one too!

So the event began with our Dean's obligatory introductory speech. Then a PG student gave a brilliant speech, on behalf of her entire batch, about how their college experiences shaped them up to who they are now. A little fabricated but I was impressed with the wordings of her speech more than the message.

After that, today's chief guest, who is a chairman of a really huge empire of a company, gave his speech about why he thinks our college has been born at the right time. He also spoke about 'feature rich' vs 'experience rich' which is definitely something I've never heard before.

Finally, the citation ceremony began. The PG students seem to have their lives sorted. Some people have got full paid scholarships (I desperately want one scholarship in my life), some have secured jobs with fancy positions already, some are planning to take on their family business while a few others have already started out their entrepreneurial ideas into motion. That's really inspiring.

And then the hats were off. I really can't wait to do that myself!!

After the ceremony, our normal lectures began, starting with one of my favouries, finance. I felt kinda at ease in class today. Probably because of the fact that I was one of the few who could understand and solve the sums given. Or probably because a few of those who wouldn't normally talk to me, were interacting with me.

Later, we had a marketing lecture with one of the most popular professors last year. His class today was okayish because we went off track quite a few times. But there was a small something that happened at the end of the lecture which brightened my mood.

After class got over, I went up to the professor and started having a conversation with him about something that we discussed in class. While leaving, he looks to my friends and says "She has started talking now. Last year, she used to be very silent. This is a good change.'

You have no idea how good that made me feel. First of all, he remembered who I was and how I used to behave last year. That's a surprise. And more than that, the fact that he noticed a change in my behaviour, one that I have been working for so long, that brought made me feel proud about myself.
