Chapter 4:
See, God is not the answer, my fellow humans. There is no point in praying. What had to happen, will happen.I am beyond shocked at how fucking ignorant people can be. Ostracizing people because they have some sort of a skin problem, which is not even their fault? How pathetic of an excuse is that? Shame on humanity.
Sadly, Anupama expects a lot from Anand and has a lot of false hopes from him. But there was no way she could have seen the future. Poor her.
I like the fact that Anupama stopped her father from begging someone when it wasn't his fault at all. If people choose to be ignorant, better keep them in their world. You can't bow down to people for something you haven't done.
It's always about 'what will the others say', isn't it? Social acceptance has always been of utmost importance, and will continue to be so.
This is so sad. Someone's wedding has been called off because the sister has some serious problems. Mr. Logic, where you at, bruv?
What is with marriage being called an 'alliance'? Everything apart from the actual couple's bond is taken into consideration during marriage proposals. It does make some sense but they should learn to overlook unimportant things in life only because your reputation will go down.
Sumitra is such a good friend! She has invited Anupama to stay with her even after knowing about her ailments. It is good to hear that she hasn't fallen prey to society's villians.
All this while that Anupama feels that Anand has deserted her, she doesn't have concrete proof for it. I feel that even she has fallen prey to the rumour tradition.
Thoughts of suicide... Well, I have had a deep internal discussion on it as well. I want to write down exaclty what Anupama felt because this was kind of what I feel when I have my rare moments of suicidal thoughts-
"What did she have to look forward to? Nothing! As long as she lived, she would be a burden on her father, and bane for her sisters. Sabakka's taunts would only add to her misery. Anupama could see only one way to solve all her problems. She gazed at the ledge- it was only a few steps away, and death was waiting. What she required now was a little courage- after all, what did she have to live for? How would anything what the society says matter once she was dead? Nothing would hurt her. Her father and Sumithra would feel sad but they'll move on. That was only natural..."
Oh my god. Sumithra's husband Hari, who considered Anupama a sister, is fucking trying to be with her! He is comparing his wife's looks with her best friend. This is wrong on so many levels! Fuck!
