Letting out a very wheezy cough, Seokjin snuggled up further towards the armrest of the - too small for his liking - couch. (He never liked the old thing as his arms and legs were too long and always ended up falling off the edge.) (But Jungkook was really tight on money right now and couldn't afford to replace the couch.) (That and his parents bought it for him as a house warming gift God knows how long ago, and the younger male honestly felt bad about wanting to throw it out.)
Speaking of Jungkook, Seokjin found himself wondering what was taking said male so long, as he was normally home from work by now. Unless...
'No, Seokjin, stop thinking like that,' Seokjin thought to himself, shaking his head and going back to whatever he was watching - or at least trying to - on the TV.
Unfortunately, there were no kids channels airing at two in the morning, and Seokjin felt himself slipping from the cusp he had on whatever remains of big space he had left. He didn't want to be little because it made him vulnerable, and he just wanted Jungkook to get home and go to sleep so he wouldn't a.) be up all night, and b.) actually get a good night's sleep tonight.
And if Seokjin was little, then Jungkook would have to put extra energy into looking after him for the night. Now, Seokjin may be as ass sometimes, but he wasn't an inconsiderate dick, and he understood that his boyfriend was busting his butt working for the both of them because Seokjin couldn't. And Seokjin was prepared to repay him in whatever way, shape or form, even if that meant not being little.
But, more recently, Jungkook had been arriving home from work even later than usual, and he was too tired to give Seokjin a proper hello sometimes. Most of the time, he would grumble a short 'hi' at him before collapsing in bed still clad in his work clothes. (Sometimes Seokjin would have to undress and dress him himself.)
And even when Jungkook did miraculously have a day off from one, two or maybe even all three of his part-time jobs, all he did during those days was either sleep off the exhaustion from the hard days of work before or sit with his nose buried in his laptop catching up on some online work he still had to do.
And Seokjin was ill, physically and mentally, from all the abandonment he had been facing recently.
He hadn't told Jungkook about any of this - of course he wouldn't, the boy was too darn considerate - and over time it grew worse, leading Seokjin to believe that it wasn't just work Jungkook was replacing him with, but another person. Another being.
Just thinking about the things Jungkook might be doing with someone else - or multiple people - while Seokjin was up all night waiting for him was enough to make the boy want to hurl, and before he knew it, he was bent over the toilet, throwing up the non-existent contents of his stomach into the bowl.
He hated this, hated thinking about Jungkook in such negative ways, but his mind was so shattered that it was all Seokjin could think about.
Seokjin was so busy throwing up that he didn't hear the front door open or close, nor the sound of footsteps rushing up the stairs urgently until there was someone next to him, rubbing his back in reassuring circles and shushing him from his tears.
Seokjin looked up, tears clouded his misty vision, to see Jungkook kneeling next to him, looking pale and worried.
"Kookie..." Seokjin croaked, and Jungkook immediately entrapped the older boy into a hug.
"Shh, it's ok, baby; Kookie's here," Jungkook shushed his boyfriend, letting the boy cry into his shoulder. "You should've told me you were sick, sweetheart. Daddy could've gotten some medicine for you while he was out."
"'M not," Seokjin grumbled, pushing himself away from Jungkook and forcing himself to stand up, flushing the toilet and grimacing as he watched his bile be drained from the basin.
Jungkook stood up after him. "You obviously are if you're throwing up at half two in the morning, Jinnie. What have you eaten today?"
Seokjin bit his lip before replying, "Nothing."
Jungkook stood a few feet behind Seokjin, staring at his back before he decided to step forward. "Why not?"
"I wasn't hungry," Seokjin replied almost instantly, like he'd been anticipating Jungkook's question from a mile away.
Jungkook sighed, rubbing at the bridge of his nose with his thumb and forefinger. "Baby, you know that's not good for you."
Seokjin didn't reply.
"Why are you doing this to yourself?" Jungkook asked softly, placing a hand on the small of Seokjin's back.
"Promise me you won't leave me for someone better," Seokjin suddenly blurted out, voice cracking at the tears he was now crying.
"Wha-?" Jungkook spluttered, moving to stand in front of Seokjin, and his heart broke at the sight of his boyfriend.
He was such a mess, and Seokjin knew that himself more than anyone.
"Baby, I don't understand, why would you think I would ever do that?" Jungkook asked, leading Seokjin out of the bathroom and into their shared bedroom. "I would never leave you full stop - let alone for someone better because no one is better than you, honey."
"You promise?" Seokjin pouted, and Jungkook leaned forward to kiss his lips, bypassing the aftertaste of sick he felt on his lips.
"I pinky promise," Jungkook reassured. "Can you get yourself dressed do you think? Daddy will do and make you some warm milk before bedtime, yeah?"
Seokjin nodded stubbornly, and Jungkook smiled at him once more before disappearing downstairs and into the kitchen, and for once, Seokjin actually felt content with his life.
