To say that Namjoon was confused was an understatement.

He was baffled, mind-boggled, puzzled, bewildered- any other synonym for confused under the sun.

But at the same time, he was relieved that this was all Seokjin had gotten up to while the older (mentally) of the two was away at work.

In the past, Seokjin had somehow managed to blow up the microwave the couple owned when he tried to cook himself some macaroni cheese while Namjoon was working, and he also managed to get dog fur all over himself and Namjoon's white carpet when he tried to give their dog - Bud - a makeover.

Let's just say Namjoon wasn't very happy when he arrived home that day.

But today, he couldn't help but smile at the sight of Seokjin sitting up on his knees, arms wrapped around Bud's dog cage to protect what looked like their goldfish (wait, goldfish?) from said dog.

"Seokjin, pumpkin, what are you doing?" Namjoon asked, setting his briefcase down on the laminate flooring and shrugging off his suit jacket before slinging it over the back of the armchair and kneeling down next to Seokjin.

"Daddy, you gots'to help me!" Seokjin exclaimed.

"Help you with what, baby?" Namjoon cocked his head to the side in confusion.

"The meanie dentist that wants to take Pooky away from me!" Seokjin replied, referring to the goldfish locked in the dog's cage. "Bud works for the dentist, Daddy, that's why he's not allowed in his cage." Seokjin whispered that last part, and Namjoon couldn't help but crack a smile at his little's imagination.

"Just what have you been up to while Daddy was gone, hm?" Namjoon asked - more or less to himself - as he reached up to ruffle Seokjin's hair.

"'s not funny, Daddy! Pooky is in danger!" Seokjin cried, tears filling his eyes at Namjoon's lack of seriousness.

"Ok, ok, baby boy, don't cry," Namjoon hushed the older male. "Can you tell me what made you think Bud wanted to hurt Pooky?"

"Da meanie dentist," Seokjin mumbled, and Namjoon smiled.

"I know that, love, but who is this 'meanie dentist'?" He asked, and Seokjin simply pointed to the DVD case sitting on top of the coffee table.

Namjoon stood up, took two steps forward before he was in front of the coffee table, and his smile grew wider at the DVD case.

"Baby, do you mean the meanie dentist's daughter from Finding Nemo?" Namjoon asked, settling back down next to Seokjin on the floor.

"Yeah, das da one!" Seokjin nodded furiously, and Namjoon chuckled, rubbing his hand over Seokjin's back to calm him down. "Bud wants to flush Pooky down da toilet!"

"Honey, that's not real," Namjoon reassured. "Here, princess, let me show you."

Namjoon turned around and scanned the room for Bud, who was laying down on the kitchen floor. "Bud! Here boy!"

"No, Daddy!" Seokjin cried as Bud trotted his way over to Namjoon, immediately licking his hand.

"It's ok, poppet, look," Namjoon shushed, prompting Seokjin to look up at Bud. "He doesn't want to hurt Pooky, do you Bud?"

Bud barked in response, and Seokjin's eyes lit up as he let go of the dog cage and immediately latched himself onto Bud, hugging him happily.

Namjoon chuckled softly at the sight and opened the latch to the dog cage, picking up the fish bowl from inside and lifting it up to his face, inspecting it to make sure Pooky was still alive.

After returning the bowl to its original place, Namjoon washed his hand off before getting started on the dinner.

"Daddy?" Seokjin asked from in the living room.

"Yes, baby boy?" Namjoon called back before Seokjin came padding into the kitchen.

"You're like a superhero!" Seokjin exclaimed.

"Am I, princess?" Namjoon grinned when Seokjin nodded happily. "Well, you're a little trooper too, baby, protecting Pooky from Bud."

"Really, Daddy?" Seokjin asked happily and Namjoon nodded.

"You think you can protect Daddy like that?" Namjoon suggested and Seokjin nodded enthusiastically. "Thank you, baby boy."
